Requirements:

- Active State Respiratory Care Practitioner License; Board Certification, as appropriate

Responsibilities:
- Provides respiratory care services and equipment to patients with deficiencies and abnormalities of the cardiopulmonary system, under supervision of the Physician and by prescription.
- Reads prescriptions and reviews patient information.
- Obtains and sets up equipment for use in the home or in out-patient setting, such as the following: PAP devices, apnea monitors, mechanical ventilators, O2 equipment, humidifiers and aerosols, suction devices, cough assist devices, nebulizers, oximeters and high flow therapy.
- Educates and instructs patients and their caregivers on use and maintenance of the above equipment and supplies.
- Provides patient assessments, equipment troubleshooting and patient’s equipment compliance monitoring.
- When needed, will communicate with prescribing and non-prescribing health care providers to ensure optimal respiratory care for health care provider’s patients.
- Maintains patients’ charts that contain pertinent identification and therapy information.
- Inspects and tests respiratory therapy equipment to ensure equipment is functioning at an optimal level.
- Orders repairs when needed.
- Demonstrates respiratory care procedures to trainees and other health care personnel.
