The NCAS Student Challenge is a multi-phase educational competition that helps community college students discover how the knowledge and skills they are building today can support NASA's missions and future careers in the aerospace workforce.
Across two phases, students participate in live webinars, hear from NASA technical experts, explore NASA career pathways, and build a career portfolio demonstrating how their education and technical skills align with NASA workforce needs. Up to 1000 students who complete the Cohort Phase are invited to a virtual NCAS Career Fair, where they connect with NASA and aerospace industry professionals, learn about internship and employment opportunities, and strengthen their understanding of career opportunities within NASA and the broader aerospace industry.
Students can earn up to $750 in monetary awards through competitive submissions. The challenge helps students build career awareness, strengthen connections between community college education and NASA missions, and expand pathways into the aerospace workforce.

ELIGIBILITY
NASA welcomes applications from eligible students enrolled at accredited U.S.-based two-year institutions.
-Be at least 18 years of age at the time of registration
-Be a U.S. citizen
-Be enrolled full-time or part-time at a fully accredited U.S.-based, community college – defined by US DOE as “an institution of a higher education . . . publicly controlled, and either awards only associate‘s degrees and certificates or awards associate degrees, certificates, and bachelor’s degrees, but less than 50 percent of the credentials it awarded in the prior school year were bachelor’s degrees.”
-Be enrolled in or have successfully completed at least six (6) credit hours of STEM or STEM-related technical coursework applicable to NASA and aerospace workforce pathways (e.g., science, technology, engineering, mathematics, advanced manufacturing, welding, machining, engineering technology, aviation maintenance, computer programming, electronics, robotics, or similar technical fields).

Individual Participation
The NCAS Student Challenge is an individual student challenge. Participants complete and submit all required materials individually and are evaluated based on their own submissions and participation. Team submissions are not permitted. Students may not combine submissions or participate as part of a team entry.
