About this role

[What the role is]
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Lecturer/Senior Lecturer to join the Diploma in Sport & Exercise Science (DSES) team. The successful candidate will contribute to teaching excellence, curriculum innovation, applied research, and industry engagement while nurturing students to become competent and future-ready sport and exercise science professionals.

The appointee will play a key role in delivering an industry-relevant curriculum spanning sport physiology, biomechanics, kinesiology, sport psychology, sport nutrition, exercise prescription, injury management and inclusive physical activity.

[What you will be working on]

Teaching and Learning
•    Design, develop and deliver high-quality learning experiences for diploma students.
•    Facilitate classroom, laboratory, field-based and blended learning activities.
•    Teach across sport and exercise science disciplines, including: 
o    Sports and Exercise Physiology
o    Kinesiology and Biomechanics
o    Injury Prevention and Management
o    Sports and Exercise Psychology
o    Sports and Exercise Nutrition
o    Sports and Exercise Prescription
o    Performance Analysis
o    Inclusive Physical Activity

•    Develop authentic assessments and provide timely, constructive feedback.
•    Supervise student projects, internships and industry-based learning experiences.

Curriculum Development
•    Lead and contribute to curriculum review and enhancement.
•    Ensure curriculum alignment with emerging industry trends, professional standards and higher education pathways.
•    Integrate technology-enabled learning, data analytics, wearable technologies and AI-enhanced practices where appropriate.
•    Develop learning resources, assessment rubrics and teaching materials.

Student Development
•    Mentor and provide academic advising to students.
•    Support student progression, retention and wellbeing initiatives.
•    Facilitate industry exposure opportunities.
•    Foster professional values, critical thinking and lifelong learning skills.

Industry Engagement
•    Build and maintain partnerships with relevant public and private stakeholders 
•    Identify internship, project and collaborative learning opportunities.
•    Support consultancy, continuing education and workforce development initiatives.

Scholarship and Research
•    Undertake applied research and scholarly activities relevant to sport and exercise science.
•    Present and share best practices in teaching and professional practice.
•    Collaborate with industry and academic partners on innovation projects.
•    Guide students in research and evidence-based practice.

Academic Leadership
•    Lead module teams and programme initiatives.
•    Mentor junior lecturers and associate lecturers.
•    Participate in accreditation, quality assurance and programme review activities.
•    Contribute to strategic projects within the School and Polytechnic.

[What we are looking for]

•    Qualification in Sport Science, Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Exercise Physiology, Strength and Conditioning, Sport Nutrition, Sport Psychology, Biomechanics or a related field.
•    Candidates with significant industry experience and professional certifications are strongly encouraged to apply.

Experience
•    At least 5 to 8 years of relevant industry and/or teaching experience.
•    Demonstrated experience in one or more of the following areas: 
o    Exercise physiology and testing
o    Strength and conditioning
o    Sport performance analysis
o    Sport nutrition
o    Rehabilitation and exercise prescription
o    Community health and active ageing
o    Applied sport research
o    Adapted sports and games
