About the role

As the HVAC Commodity Manager – Data Center , you will play a critical role in supporting Carrier's growing Data Center cooling business. You will be responsible for developing and executing sourcing and commodity strategies for critical HVAC and chiller components, ensuring a competitive, reliable, and resilient supply base across the region.

Working closely with suppliers, Engineering, Manufacturing, Planning, and Global Sourcing teams, you will drive supplier development, commercial negotiations, cost optimization, supply continuity, and supplier performance while supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) and critical aftermarket requirements.

Key Responsibilities

As an HVAC Commodity Manager – Data Center you'll be responsible for:

- Develop and execute sourcing and commodity strategies for critical HVAC, chiller, mechanical, electrical, and electromechanical components supporting Data Center applications.
- Lead RFQs, supplier selection, commercial negotiations, cost reduction initiatives, and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) analysis.
- Develop, qualify, and manage suppliers while identifying localization, dual-sourcing, and supply-risk mitigation opportunities.
- Partner with Engineering and cross-functional teams to support New Product Introduction (NPI), component qualification, BOM requirements, and supplier readiness.
- Manage supplier performance across cost, quality, delivery, lead time, and supply continuity objectives.
- Support critical aftermarket and spare parts requirements, including long lead-time components and NLA (No Longer Available) transitions.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing, Planning, Engineering, Field Service, and Global Sourcing teams to resolve supply risks and ensure business continuity.

Requirements

We are looking for people who are proactive, analytical, results-driven, collaborative, and capable of solving complex sourcing and supply chain challenges . If this is you, get in touch.

As a minimum you must have:

- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Strategic Sourcing, Commodity Management, Category Management, or Procurement of direct materials within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience managing direct material commodities and suppliers , including RFQs, supplier selection, commercial negotiations, cost reduction, and supplier performance.
- Experience working cross-functionally with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Planning, and Supply Chain teams.
- Proficiency with SAP ERP and advanced Excel, with experience supporting regional or global sourcing activities.
- Fully bilingual (English and Spanish) with strong communication and negotiation skills.

Although not necessary, it would be nice if you have:

- Experience in HVAC, chillers, refrigeration, Data Center cooling, or thermal management applications .
- Commodity experience with compressors, motors, controls, pumps, valves, bearings, castings, machined components, fabricated metals, electrical components, or other critical HVAC components .
- Experience with NPI, supplier development, localization, dual sourcing, BOM/AVL/PFEP, should-cost, and Total Cost of Ownership methodologies.
- Knowledge of KetteQ, Kinaxis, inventory planning, or critical spare parts management.
- Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma experience with a continuous improvement mindset.
