About the role
As Global Category Director – Energy, Utilities & Facilities, you will lead the development and execution of multi-year global category strategies, overseeing approximately $200M in annual Utilities spend. You will drive enterprise-wide cost reduction, productivity, supplier performance, and sustainability initiatives while strengthening procurement capabilities across regions. Partnering with business leaders, Real Estate, EHS, Operations, Engineering, and Finance, you will help improve operational reliability, manage risk, and advance Carrier’s decarbonization objectives while leading a global team.

Key Responsibilities
As a Global Category Director – Energy, Utilities & Facilities, you'll be responsible for:

- Develop and own multi-year global category strategies across Energy, Utilities, and Facilities, aligning sourcing priorities with enterprise cost, risk, and sustainability objectives. Own category productivity and savings targets, budgets, and performance reporting to senior leadership and steering committees.
- Manage approximately $200M in annual global Utilities spend, monitor electricity, natural gas, and fuel markets, and develop layered purchasing and hedging strategies to manage price volatility and supply risk. Oversee utility billing and spend visibility, and partner with site teams on energy-efficiency and demand-management initiatives.
- Lead global sourcing, RFx events, and commercial negotiations for energy, utilities, and facilities goods and services. Develop supplier segmentation and consolidation strategies, strengthen contract compliance, and establish KPIs, SLAs, supplier governance, and change-control processes to reduce total cost of ownership.
- Lead renewable energy and self-generation sourcing opportunities, including power purchase agreements, on-site solar, and energy attribute certificates. Monitor applicable regulatory requirements across geographies and own category-level ESG data, supplier scorecards, and reporting inputs supporting corporate sustainability disclosures.
- Lead, coach, and develop a global team of 4–6 category and sourcing professionals. Build strong partnerships with executive stakeholders, manage strategic supplier relationships and performance reviews, advance procurement maturity, and escalate material commercial, operational, and supply risks to global procurement leadership.

Requirements
We are looking for people who are strategic, results-oriented, commercially astute, and collaborative leaders with strong executive presence and the ability to drive change across global organizations. If this is you, get in touch.
As a minimum you must have:

- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, Sustainability, or a related field.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in procurement or category management, including leadership of large-scale indirect procurement categories and relevant experience in Energy, Utilities, Facilities, or closely related spend areas.
- 5+ years of experience leading global or cross-functional/matrixed teams, including geographically dispersed professionals, and driving change across regions.
- Proven experience developing and executing category strategies, leading RFx processes and global supplier negotiations, and delivering measurable savings and total cost of ownership reductions, supported by strong financial and commercial acumen.
- Demonstrated ability to influence executive stakeholders and manage global supplier relationships, with working knowledge of energy procurement models, applicable regulatory requirements, and ESG/sustainability reporting, and the ability to travel approximately 20%, domestically and internationally.

Although not necessary, it would be nice if you have:

- Deep expertise in Energy and Utilities procurement, including global energy markets, layered purchasing and hedging strategies, and management of annual category spend exceeding $100M.
- Experience leading sustainability and renewable energy programs, including power purchase agreements, on-site solar, energy attribute certificates, and energy-efficiency initiatives.
- Experience within industrial manufacturing environments or organizations with complex global footprints and mature procurement functions.

Benefits
We offer a competitive total rewards package that may include other benefits and well‑being programs. Offerings vary by role and location and are designed to support employees’ health, security, and success.
