Job Overview
The retail HSSE Business Partner supports the safe and compliant delivery of projects and services across the Middle East and Africa region. The role provides HSSE leadership for contractors, channel partners, and project activities, ensuring compliance with legal, customer, and corporate requirements while driving continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Responsibilities
• Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of HSSE programs, processes, and compliance requirements for projects, contractors, and channel partners.
• Ensure compliance with legal, customer, corporate, and ISO management system requirements through audits, inspections, and monitoring activities.
• Manage contractor and channel partner qualification, onboarding, compliance, and performance processes.
• Support risk assessment, incident investigation, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Monitor and communicate HSSE performance trends and provide practical support to operational teams, contractors, channel partners, and customers.
• Promote a proactive safety culture through leadership engagement, training, and coaching.
Required Skills / Qualifications / Certifications / Tech Stack (List all)
Essential
• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Management, Engineering, or related field.
• accredited OHS qualification and Mandatory registration as a Construction Health and Safety Officer via the South African Council for the Project and Construction Management Professions under Act 48 of 2000.
• 5-10 years' HSSE experience in project, contractor, industrial, mining, energy, or customer-facing operations.
• Knowledge of HSSE legislation, risk management, contractor management, and incident investigation.
• Knowledge and experience of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems
• Strong communication, stakeholder management, and influencing skills.
• Knowledge of mining and oil & gas EHS requirements
• Advanced driving skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital workplace technologies.
Preferred
• Lead Auditor qualification or equivalent audit experience.
• Experience implementing ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems.
• Experience with occupational hygiene, health surveillance, and emergency response programs within mining environments.
• Experience using digital HSSE reporting and compliance management systems.
