POSITION(S): Set up Finish Walter Grinders – Standard Product

LEVEL OF AUTHORITY: Associate

THIS POSITION REPORTS TO: Grind Blades Supervisor

JOB TITLES REPORTING TO THIS POSITION: None

ROLE: Set-up the Finish grinders and teach assistants how to set them up.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Operate and Setup Walter Finish Grind 5-axis grinders on standard product and special items.

- Perform complete inspections using an optical comparator, contracer, and camera

- Create part programs on PC stations utilizing blueprints and data files

- Perform wheel truing on all standard wheel sets, online and offline. Establish wheels on machine for truing, build new wheel stacks.

- Troubleshoot quality-related issues on the grinders

- Run production

- The willingness to follow, and provide, instructions and procedures in a cooperative manner

- Low absenteeism/tardiness, as determined by management

- Must be able to access all on-line work instructions.

- Observe and report all areas that need addressed.

- Maintain a high quality level as well as a high rate of efficiency.

- Work in a safe manner at all times.

- Correct reporting of job transactions.

- Fill out NCR for blades that do not meet our quality standards

- Follow inspection plan

- Proper use and care of micrometers and calipers.

- Read and understand blueprints.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education

- High School Graduate or GED equivalent

- Completed or enrolled in Apprenticeship Program, preferred.

Experience

- One year working knowledge of finish grinding operations, preferred.

- Experience with micrometers, calipers, and dial indicator gauges

- One year of CNC equipment set-up, preferred.

- Must have completed 90-day probationary period. Required

Skills

- Detail oriented, good planning and organizational skills

- Good at multitasking

- Basic math skills, Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, Division

Minimum Requirements

- Able to be on feet for 12 hour shifts

- Able to lift 32 lbs.
