About this role
The Human Resources Generalist is a member of the HR Department team , responsible for the daily functions of the Human Resources department , including terminations, policy implementation/monitoring, employee relations, training and development, and overall employee records maintenance . The Human Resources Generalist assists the Human Resources Manager with the implementation of changes serving the strategic goals of the organization , as well as ensuring all regulatory and compliance requirements are met as they pertain to applicable privacy and employment legislation .
🔑 Key Responsibilities:
Payroll & Benefits
- Collaborate with the finance team to ensure accurate and timely bi-weekly payroll processing.
- Administer employee benefits programs, ensuring adherence to relevant regulations.
- Address employee inquiries regarding payroll, timesheets, and benefits.
HRIS
- Utilize the Ceridian Dayforce HRIS System to update employee information and streamline HR processes.
HR Policies & Compliance
- Develop and update HR policies and procedures to meet legal requirements and industry standards.
- Communicate policies to employees and provide training as necessary.
- Promote and enforce Human Resource best practices.
- Ensure compliance with personal information protection legislation and report any breaches.
Health & Safety
- Monitor Health and Safety practices to ensure alignment with OH&S legislative requirements.
- Review site Human Resource, as well as Health and Safety practices are followed.
HR Budget
- Assist in developing and managing HR budgets.
Recruitment
- Support the Recruiter with sourcing and screening top talent.
- Recommend recruitment strategies based upon employment market conditions.
Employee Relations & Leadership Support
- Respond to leadership concerns and provide sound advice and guidance.
- Notify leadership of any suspected or verified employee matters, including misconduct, attendance concerns, or other employee performance issues.
- Provide employees with appropriate advice which promotes a positive and productive work environment and address any employee concerns using best practice solutions.
Training & Development
- Educate both managers and individual contributors in various areas of Human Resource practices.
Other
- Other related duties as required.
Requirements
💡 Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise:
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- CPHR designation, or CPHR Candidate designation is considered an asset.
- A minimum of three (3) years of hands-on experience in HR roles , preferably in a Generalist capacity , showcasing expertise in payroll, benefits administration, and HRIS system management .
- Experience with workplace investigations and performance management is an asset.
- Strong knowledge of employment law and HR best practices .
- Experience with the BambooHR is required.
- Work is performed at the work site. Remote or Hybrid work is not available.
