THIS POSITION IS CONTIGENT UPON CONTRACT AWARD
SUMMARY
The Electrical Technician performs a variety of electrical trade functions such as the installation, maintenance, or repair of equipment for the distribution or utilization of electric energy in quarters, building and other installation structures. Will assist Journeyman Electricians.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES included but not limited to the following.:
- Repair and re-lamp high intensity discharge, fluorescent, quartz, incandescent, and other lighting.
- Re-lamps outdoor and indoor lighting fixtures as required.
- Work involves, but is not limited to, the following: installing or repairing any of a variety of electrical equipment such as kitchen equipment, fans, lighting switches, outlets, transformers, circuit breakers and panels, controllers, motors, heating units, conduit systems, or other transmission equipment.
- Locate underground utilities.
- Perform necessary work and possess the knowledge and skill to install electrical feeders, branch circuits, lighting, and electrical devices.
- Ability and knowledge to maintain, troubleshoot and make repairs to electrical distribution, motors, motor controls and related components.
- Working from blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specifications or experience, and using VOM or Megger, locates, diagnoses, repairs and corrects trouble in the electrical system or equipment.
- Assist Electricians as needed.
- Employees are required to drive company vehicles on a Federal Installation.
- All other duties as assigned by supervision.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must have a minimum of 2-4 years of work experience in basic electrical skills.
- Must have knowledge of and experience with voltages ranging from 120/208 up to 277/480.
- Must maintain all related Texas licenses and certifications as appropriate
- Must have knowledge and experience with AC/DC, Voltage and Amp meters.
- Must possess skills with basic power tools relating to the electrical field.
- Must have knowledge and experience with different types of lighting fixtures
- Must not be afraid of heights.
- Must maintain a valid drivers license.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- High school degree or GED required.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Must have the ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, managers and staff members.
