POSITION SUMMARY
Machinist Level 2 builds on the skills learned in Machinist I and begins performing simple to intermediate setups. They expand their machining knowledge within their home department (Milling or Lathe).

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform basic and intermediate setups independently.
Adjust tool and work offsets, verify program alignment.
Interpret detailed drawings including GD&T.
Troubleshoot simple machining issues, including tool wear.
Perform in‑process inspection and document measurements.
Support continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or GED required
Technical, vocational, or trade‑school training in machining preferred
CNC machining coursework or equivalent on‑the‑job training preferred
Demonstrated progression from Machinist I or equivalent experience
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and shop documentation

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for up to 8 hours per day. The employee frequently uses hands and arms to handle materials and equipment and may be required to walk, stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Vision requirements include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but at times loud. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
