About this role

JOB DESCRIPTION & RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Provide engineering design, development and production support for new exterior automotive lighting products to meet program timing and cost objectives

- Maintain open lines of communication with external customer, internal project team and suppliers

- Capture Hardware requirements for lamp electronics, LED Arrays & Lamp ECU’s

- Provide detailed design of electrical circuit schematic in Company tools based on design library or design new circuits as needed by working with design team.  Circuits may include LED driver modules, headlamp control modules, LED matrix drivers, DC/DC-SMPS, microcontrollers and LED arrays

- Circuit modeling, Worst Case Circuit Analysis and LED knowledge

- Contribute on incorporating new circuits to the global standard circuit library and promote its utilization within the HW Team.

- Develop best cost offer from HW BOM perspective, Maintain the electronics BOM cost during development phase and control the changes that impact the electronics cost model and develop technical argumentation against when needed.

- Work with MCAD and ECAD engineers to ensure high quality circuit board and harness designs

- Support electronics testing and validation to ensure design meets Company and OEM requirements

- Maintain all HW relevant documentation and reports to company processes

- Work with electronic manufacturing suppliers (EMS) or in-house facilities for manufacture of electronics.

- Work with electronics component engineering and purchasing to create new parts in Company database for new circuits

- Develop hardware test plans, DFMEA, new component selection, support Lamp test plan development

- Achieve HW Deliverables due dates that are in line with Lead Electronics and Lamp delivery plan.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT(S):

- B.S. in Electrical Engineering, M.S. in EE preferred or higher

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT(S):

- Minimum 8 years of automotive electronics design, development and launch experience

- Working level knowledge of modeling electronic circuits using simulation tools such as PSpice, LTSpice , MathLAB or equivalent.

- Design for functional safety under ISO26262 standard.

- Proficiency on EMC/EMI troubleshooting

- Fluent in the use of electronic schematic capture tool Altium.

- Familiar or knowledge of engineering tools such as Teamcenter, DOORS NG, Vector CANoe, Mathcad.

- Design of Power Electronics: Switching Mode Power Supplies (SMPS), DC-DC converters, Linear regulators in automotive environment

- Familiar with embedded systems like microcontrollers and LIN / CAN communication protocols.
