Title: Fire Extinguisher and Life Safety Technician

Location: Raleigh Triangle Area

Rate:   $25 - $30 per hour

General Purpose

We are seeking a Fire Extinguisher & Life Safety Technician to join our growing Fire & Life Safety division. This position will primarily perform inspections of portable fire extinguishers, identify deficiencies and recommend necessary replacements or corrective action, and install new fire extinguishers and cabinets. The role will also inspect emergency lighting and exit signs and perform basic replacement of batteries and lighting components. The ideal candidate has approximately two years of fire extinguisher inspection experience, is comfortable working independently in the field, and takes pride in providing professional service to customers. As part of a newly established division, this position offers the opportunity to help build the business, grow with the company, and potentially earn additional compensation through qualified sales opportunities as the division develops.

- Scope of Work: This position is responsible for inspection, documentation, installation, and identification of deficiencies. Extinguisher repair, recharging, and other servicing will be performed by qualified personnel and are outside the scope of this position.

ESSENTIAL JOB DETAILS:

- Perform portable fire extinguisher inspections in accordance with applicable NFPA 10 requirements and company procedures.

- Identify damaged, expired, missing, improperly located, or otherwise deficient fire extinguishers.

- Document inspection results and clearly communicate deficiencies and recommended corrective actions.

- Install new portable fire extinguishers and fire extinguisher cabinets.

- Identify opportunities where customers may benefit from replacement extinguishers, cabinets, emergency lighting, or other life safety products.

- Inspect emergency lighting and exit signs for proper operation and identify deficiencies.

- Replace emergency-light batteries and basic lighting components as appropriate.

- Coordinate with the Fire & Life Safety manager or other qualified personnel when extinguishers require servicing, repair, recharging, or other work outside the scope of the position.

- Maintain accurate records of inspections and work performed.

- Manage assigned field work and routes with a high degree of independence.

- Maintain company vehicle, tools, equipment, and inventory in an organized and professional manner.

- Provide professional, courteous customer service while representing the company at customer locations.

- Work collaboratively with team members and assist with other company operations as needed.

- Cross-train and assist with plumbing-related work when necessary.

- Follow all applicable safety requirements, company policies, and procedures.

- Contribute to the growth and development of a new Fire & Life Safety division.

- As the division develops, participate in opportunities for additional compensation related to qualified sales of fire and life safety products and services.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

- Approximately 2 years of experience performing portable fire extinguisher inspections preferred.

- Working knowledge of NFPA 10 and portable fire extinguisher inspection requirements.

- OSHA 10 certification preferred.

- Ability to recognize and accurately document fire extinguisher and life safety deficiencies.

- Mechanical aptitude and the ability to perform basic emergency-lighting and exit-sign replacements.

- Ability to work independently in the field while maintaining communication with management.

- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.

- Professional communication and customer service skills.

- Ability to frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

- Ability to frequently bend, stoop, kneel, reach, stand, and walk for extended periods.

- Comfortable working in commercial buildings, jobsites, and other field environments.

- Willingness to cross-train and assist with plumbing-related work when needed.

- Self-motivated, dependable, and comfortable working with limited day-to-day supervision.

- Team-oriented attitude and willingness to contribute wherever needed as the division grows.

- Willingness to identify legitimate customer needs and participate in sales opportunities as the role develops.

- Must have a clean driving record.
