Internal Posting - Transportation Central East CEI Business Unit Leader (BUL)

Location: Charleston, WV

We are excited to announce that we will be undergoing a selection process for a Business Unit Leader (BUL) in our Transportation group, supporting a newly formed Central East CEI business unit. Additionally, this position offers potential for a remote work arrangement for qualified candidates with the right ability and aptitude.

This is a unique opportunity to lead and grow a key business unit within Mead & Hunt's transportation practice. The selected leader will be responsible for setting the strategic direction of the business unit, fostering strong client relationships, supporting project delivery excellence, and driving sustainable growth across the region.

Responsibilities include:

- Develop and execute the business unit's strategic and marketing plans, with accountability for achieving growth and performance goals

- Lead business development efforts, including client engagement, proposal development, pursuit strategies, and go/no-go decisions

- Establish and maintain strong relationships with transportation agencies, municipalities, and other key clients throughout the region

- Monitor financial performance and implement strategies to achieve business plan objectives

- Identify and recommend staffing and resource needs to support current and future workload demands

- Lead, mentor, and develop department managers, project managers, and emerging leaders within the business unit

- Promote a culture of safety, quality, collaboration, and continuous improvement

- Ensure successful project delivery through effective contract administration, quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC), and risk management practices

- Monitor industry trends, funding programs, and market opportunities to support continued growth

- Oversee all employees in the assigned business unit; direct reports consist of managers of departments within the assigned business unit

- Other duties as assigned

This position requires travel, overnight stays, and evening or weekend work as assigned.

Successful candidates will have all of the following:

- Bachelor’s degree in a professional field. At least seven years of relevant experience in consulting or related field required (ten preferred). Any appropriate professional registration preferred but not required.

Ideal candidates will have any/all of the following:

- Experience managing CEI programs and transportation construction projects for state DOTs, local agencies, and other transportation clients

- Demonstrated success in client development and business growth initiatives

- Proven ability to lead teams across multiple locations or disciplines

- Strong understanding of transportation construction practices, contract administration, and project delivery processes
