General Description
Security Shift Supervisors support the mission, goals, and objectives of the University, and that of the Department of Public Safety. Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Protecting the Methodist University Community (Students, Faculty, Staff and Guests) from theft, vandalism, and any disruption of the educational process
- Covering shift when others are out or on leave
- Securing campus facilities either by your presence or through the building security plan
- Following in detail the Public Safety Manual of procedures and any directives of the Director or any supervisory staff within the Public Safety Department
- Accounting for, inspecting, briefing and supervising personnel assigned to your shift
- Conducting on-the-job training as necessary
- Assisting subordinates in resolving problems that affect their duty performance such as obtaining clothing and equipment needed.
- Ensuring personnel problems such as pay discrepancies are brought to the Chain of Commands attention in a timely manner and following up to see that employees work-related problems are corrected.
- Counseling employees on their job performance
- Exercising direct command in a way that assures the good order, conduct, discipline and efficiency of subordinates.
- Completing and filing of all forms, such as:
1. Incident Reports
2. Daily Reports
3. Maintenance Reports
4. Safety Reports
5. Other Reports as Required
In addition, you are responsible to fulfill all rules, regulations, and guidelines of Methodist University, and to always be a proper role model for the students and your subordinates. Finally, you are responsible for fulfilling other duties as assigned by the Director of Public Safety, and any other senior supervisor assigned to the Public Safety Department.
Qualifications
Education Requirements:
High School
Other Requirements:
- Security/Law Enforcement experience
- Supervisory experience
- Field training officer experience preferred
- Pass a comprehensive background check
- Pass an oral interview
- Possess a valid drivers license
