JOB SUMMARY
The Banquet Houseperson is responsible for setting up, maintaining and breaking down banquet and meeting rooms according to event requirements and hotel standards. This position ensures that meeting spaces, equipment and service areas are clean, organized and properly prepared to support an exceptional guest experience.
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Set up and break down banquet and meeting rooms according to event requirements and established hotel standards.
- Prepare rooms with tables, chairs, podiums, water, glasses, pads, pens and other required meeting materials.
- Maintain knowledge of room layouts, seating capacities and various meeting room arrangements.
- Assist with coffee breaks and other banquet setups as needed.
- Clean and maintain banquet equipment, meeting rooms, carpets, windows, mirrors and other assigned areas.
- Vacuum carpeted areas and remove debris from meeting rooms, cabinets, drawers and areas around and under tables.
- Properly store banquet equipment and supplies in designated areas.
- Communicate with the Banquet Captain and other shifts regarding setup requirements, completed work and any concerns.
- Respond to changes in event requirements and assist the Banquet team as needed.
- Maintain a professional appearance and provide courteous and respectful service to guests and team members.
- Follow all hotel safety, security, cleanliness and operational procedures.
OTHER DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain highest level of customer service and guest satisfaction, according to the standards set forth by The Palms Hotel and Spa
- Ensure compliance with health and sanitation policies in all areas
- Adhere to all fire, safety, and security procedures according to hotel policy
- Adhere to all sustainability guidelines as per the Inspired by Nature Program

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous hotel, banquet or hospitality experience preferred.
• Proficient in English; additional language skills are an asset.
• Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
WORK CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Physical Demands & Work Conditions: This role requires standing and walking for up to 8 hours per shift while performing continuous heavy physical tasks, including lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs independently and maneuvering equipment carts up to 300 lbs across varied surfaces like wet pool decks, sand, and indoor flooring.
The hotel operates seven days a week, 24 hours a day. We may find it necessary to re-schedule shifts according to our business volume. You must be willing and available to fulfill changing operational demands.
