Structural Steel Welding & Fitting Supervisor – 2nd Shift
Location: York, PA
Job Type: Direct Hire
Starting Pay: $32/hour — higher pay available based on experience
2nd Shift Differential: Additional $3/hour
MUST HAVE: Structural steel fabrication experience and prior leadership experience overseeing welders and fitters.
Position Overview
Lead a second-shift team in a structural steel fabrication environment. This hands-on supervisory role is responsible for coordinating welding, fitting, production, personnel, materials, and shop activities while keeping work safe, efficient, on schedule, and compliant with quality standards.

What You’ll Do

- Lead and provide direction to welders, fitters, and other shop personnel

- Oversee daily fabrication and production activities during 2nd Shift

- Assign work and balance workloads based on production requirements

- Monitor production and fabrication schedules and make adjustments when needed

- Coordinate deliveries and help keep projects on schedule

- Establish and communicate standard fabrication procedures

- Monitor workmanship and enforce quality-control requirements

- Identify ways to improve productivity, efficiency, employee performance, and finished-product quality

- Coordinate with other departments and fabrication locations regarding production status, quality, materials, and delivery requirements

- Maintain shop equipment, tools, and facilities as needed

- Monitor inventory and coordinate material requirements with the First Shift Foreman, Operations Management, and Purchasing

- Work with vendors and suppliers as necessary

- Determine staffing and work hours needed to support delivery schedules

- Keep management informed of workload, production concerns, and operational needs

- Enforce company policies, safety procedures, and workplace standards

- Make operational decisions that support production and company objectives

Requirements

- Required: Structural steel fabrication industry experience

- Required: Previous leadership experience supervising welders and fitters

- Managerial or supervisory experience

- Detailed knowledge of structural steel fabrication operations

- Strong spoken and written English

- Strong leadership, communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills

- High school diploma or equivalent

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities

- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced fabrication environment

- Must be available for 2nd Shift, overtime, and Saturdays as needed

Position Type: Direct Hire with a 2nd Shift schedule and additional shift differential.
