Position Overview

PrideStaff is seeking an independently driven Technical Purchasing / Procurement Specialist on behalf of our client in Florham Park, NJ. This role blends hands-on procurement experience with technical/engineering expertise to source, negotiate, and purchase engineered components, materials, equipment, and services. You will act as a key liaison between Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, and external suppliers to optimize costs, minimize lead times, and maintain strict quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Manage the full-cycle procurement of technical components, fabricated parts, materials, and services.

Review and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, and Bills of Materials (BOMs) to determine accurate purchasing requirements.

Collaborate closely with Engineering to evaluate supplier capabilities and ensure components meet technical specs.

Solicit and evaluate competitive RFQs/RFPs; negotiate pricing, commercial terms, delivery schedules, and payment conditions.

Research, identify, and qualify alternative global and domestic vendors to expand supply chain flexibility and drive cost-reduction initiatives.

Monitor supplier metrics including on-time delivery, cost, quality, responsiveness, and capacity.

Partner with international teams to proactively resolve technical, delivery, or supply disruption risks.

Support New Product Development (NPD) projects by sourcing components from initial concept stage through to full production.

Maintain meticulous purchasing records, quotation data, vendor files, and pricing in the ERP system.

Qualifications & Experience

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, Manufacturing, or a related technical field preferred.

Technical Experience: Background in an engineered-products, manufacturing, industrial, mechanical, or electrical environment.

Procurement Experience: Hands-on experience in purchasing, strategic sourcing, vendor management, or technical procurement.

Blueprint Literacy: Ability to read and translate engineering drawings, specifications, schematics, and BOMs into supplier requirements.

Negotiation & Strategy: Strong commercial negotiation skills backed by a deep understanding of manufacturing cost drivers.

Software: Proficient in ERP/MRP software and Microsoft Office; experience with procurement/sourcing platforms is a plus.
