R O LE: Training Manager
REPORTS TO: Sr. Director, HRBP & Talent
LOCATION: Hybrid / Corporate Office in Houston, Texas
THE OPPORTUNITY
The Training Manager is responsible for designing and delivering learning solutions that strengthen capabilities across Venterra, with primary responsibility for Maintenance Operations training, technology and systems training, and leadership development.
This role will require bilingual (Spanish and English) skills.
This role will partner closely with Operations leaders and subject matter experts to build scalable technical and operational learning programs; lead training for new technology, systems, and tools; and design leadership development experiences that strengthen the capabilities of current and future leaders.
The Training Manager will also serve as a learning partner for enterprise projects and organizational change initiatives, supporting the PMO and business leaders by translating new processes, programs, and ways of working into practical training that drives successful adoption.
The ideal candidate brings a combination of learning strategy, instructional design, facilitation, technology training, leadership development, and project management , with the ability to quickly understand complex business needs and translate them into practical, engaging learning experiences.
This position may include up to 25% travel, including occasional overnight travel.
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintenance Operations Training
- Partner with Maintenance Operations leaders and subject matter experts to identify capability gaps and training priorities.
- Design and deliver scalable technical, operational, onboarding, and ongoing development programs for maintenance associates and leaders.
- Translate technical expertise into structured learning, job aids, facilitator resources, and hands-on development experiences.
- Develop train-the-trainer approaches that enable maintenance leaders and subject matter experts to effectively facilitate learning.
- Measure effectiveness and continuously improve training based on business needs and performance.
Technology & Systems Training
- Lead training for new technology, systems, tools, and digital capabilities across Venterra.
- Partner with Technology, project teams, and subject matter experts to translate system functionality into effective end-user learning.
- Develop and facilitate role-specific training, including virtual and instructor-led learning, videos, simulations, job aids, and performance support.
- Support technology implementations from readiness and launch through post-launch reinforcement and adoption.
- Leverage modern learning technologies and AI-enabled tools to increase the scalability and effectiveness of training.
Leadership Development
- Lead the design and delivery of leadership development programs across the organization.
- Build capabilities in areas including coaching, performance management, communication, collaboration, decision making, people development, and change leadership.
- Develop learning experiences for new managers, experienced leaders, and high-potential talent.
- Partner with HR and business leaders to identify leadership capability gaps and develop targeted solutions.
- Use experiential learning, simulations, peer learning, and real-world application to strengthen leadership effectiveness.
Learning Design & Facilitation
- Design engaging, practical learning experiences using adult learning and instructional design best practices.
- Facilitate high-impact virtual and in-person learning for audiences ranging from frontline associates to senior leaders.
- Partner with subject matter experts to translate complex information into clear, accessible learning.
- Evaluate learning effectiveness using participant feedback, performance data, and business outcomes.
Project Management & Change Training Support
- Partner with the PMO, Technology, HR, and business leaders to support training needs associated with enterprise projects and organizational change.
- Develop training plans aligned with project milestones, implementation timelines, and change strategies.
- Translate new processes and ways of working into practical, role-specific training that supports adoption.
- Manage multiple learning projects, stakeholders, timelines, and deliverables simultaneously.
Additional responsibilities as needed.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Required
- 5+ years of experience in learning & development, training, instructional design, organizational development, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience designing and delivering learning programs for operational or technical audiences.
- Experience developing and facilitating technology or systems training.
- Experience designing and facilitating leadership development programs.
- Strong instructional design and curriculum development capabilities across instructor-led, virtual, and digital learning formats.
- Demonstrated ability to partner with subject matter experts and translate complex or technical information into clear, engaging learning experiences.
- Strong facilitation and presentation skills with the ability to engage audiences ranging from frontline associates to leaders.
- Experience managing multiple projects and cross-functional learning initiatives.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and influencing skills.
Preferred
- Experience supporting maintenance, facilities, skilled trades, field operations, or another technical workforce.
- Experience supporting technology implementations or digital transformation initiatives.
- Experience developing technical or operational training programs.
- Experience with change management and organizational change initiatives.
- Experience supporting geographically dispersed or multi-site organizations.
- Experience with learning management systems, digital learning platforms, and modern learning technologies.
- Familiarity with AI-enabled learning tools and emerging approaches to workplace learning.
- Fluency in Spanish strongly preferred
