About this role

Position Overview

Challenge Enterprises of North Florida is seeking a dependable, safety-focused, and motivated individual to join our team as a Grounds Maintenance Worker.

As a Grounds Maintenance Worker, this position is responsible for mowing, edging, weeding, debris removal, and maintaining the general cleanliness and appearance of assigned exterior areas.

This role includes operating gas- and electric-powered grounds maintenance equipment and completing seasonal duties as needed. The position is ideal for someone who enjoys outdoor work and can work independently with limited supervision.

What Youll Do

Lawn & Grounds Maintenance

Operate gas-powered mowing equipment to maintain grass at approximately 2 to 3 inches and present a uniform appearance

Operate gas- or electric-powered weed-eating and edging equipment

Spread grass mulch clippings evenly and pull weeds to maintain a neat appearance

Fill holes, ruts, and depressions with dirt to maintain even ground surfaces

Spread granulated fertilizer during prescribed seasonal periods

Property Cleanup & Seasonal Duties

Remove and properly dispose of trash and debris from the grounds

Sweep paved areas and rake debris as needed

Bag trash, grass, leaves, and other collected debris

Complete changing seasonal duties and other grounds maintenance responsibilities as assigned

Safety & Team Responsibilities

Perform basic equipment operation and safety checks

Safely refuel gas-powered equipment and install cutting line on weed-eating equipment

Remain aware of surroundings and follow all required safety practices while operating equipment

Notify the Supervisor if assigned work cannot be completed and maintain a positive relationship with the onsite customer

Qualifications

What You'll Bring

Required Qualifications

Must be at least 21 years of age

Clean driving record for the previous three years

Ability to pass required background screening

Ability to work independently with limited supervision

Physical Requirements

Ability to bend, stoop, push, twist, and turn throughout the workday

Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds

Ability to perform physical grounds maintenance duties throughout the workday

Ability to work outdoors in severe heat and humidity during summer months

Ability to work outdoors in cold temperatures during winter months
