We are hiring a Sales Manager to develop and maintain business relationships, generate new sales opportunities, and support property‑level revenue goals. This role is essential to delivering an outstanding guest experience, expanding market reach, and contributing to the overall success of the hotel.

This is a results-driven, field-based position with approximately 50% of time dedicated to proactive outside sales activity. The Sales Manager is responsible for developing new business, growing existing accounts, and maximizing room and meeting space revenue for the Courtyard Portland Downtown/Waterfront. This role actively identifies and pursues corporate, group, meeting, and event opportunities while building long-term relationships with local businesses, organizations, meeting planners, and community partners.

The Sales Manager is responsible for promoting the hotels meeting and event space, generating new leads, conducting site tours, and converting inquiries into booked business. Working closely with hotel leadership, operations, and revenue management, this position strategically targets opportunities that align with hotel need periods and revenue strategy to maximize occupancy, ADR, meeting space utilization, and overall hotel profitability.

Key Responsibilities:

The Sales Manager will lead sales, developing and executing strategies designed to increase revenue and expand market share. This role requires taking initiative to build and maintain strong relationships with corporate clients and partners, while collaborating closely with hotel leadership teams to ensure sales objectives are aligned with overall operational success.

Primary Duties Include :

- Coordinating sales groups and BEOs

- Creating reservations for LNR/CNR accounts

- Working with the Director of Sales to set up amenities for groups

- Interfacing with groups on‑property to ensure a smooth experience

- Assisting with meeting room setup and takedown

- Helping coordinate BEO details with Food & Beverage

- Processing and tracking group payments

- Collaborating with hotel departments to ensure group stays and meetings run seamlessly

Position Requirements:

Were looking for candidates who have the following qualifications:

Education/Experience: Any combination of education, training, or experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities.

Industry Background: Prior hotel or hospitality sales experience strongly preferred.

Business Development: Proven ability to generate new business through in-person appointments, phone outreach, and email prospecting.

Research & Lead Generation: Strong research skills with the ability to identify new leads using web-based resources.

Sales Expertise: Thorough understanding of the sales cycle, including Prospecting, Opening, Qualifying, Advancing, Gaining Commitment, and Closing.

Client Solutions: Ability to clearly communicate lodging solutions tailored to each clients needs.

Analytical Skills: Strong ability to interpret sales performance metrics and market data to inform strategy.

Work Commitment: Must be available to work an average of at least 45 hours per week.

Flexibility: Willingness to work evenings and weekends to accommodate networking events, client appointments, and group activities.

Adaptability: Occasional off-hour engagements may be required to meet business and client needs.
