About this role

The Systems Engineer is responsible for contributing to the design, development, testing, analysis, integration, and implementation of complex AI/ML systems. They will play a supporting role in achieving the organizations goals by support the NSWCDD Intelligent Automation Division (H60) for the US Navy, DoW, and Interagency partners with warfare technologies that represent the intersection of autonomy, artificial intelligence, robotics, and unmanned systems. This position will directly impact expansion of the US Navy into the field of Artificial Intelligence and through Large Language Model problem (LLM) solving and machine learning integration.

CORE FUNCTIONS / JOB DUITES

Works independently to:

Provide guidance, test, evaluation, and systems support to Test Leads, Program Managers, and project teams. This shall include acting as a technical advisor to the supported project efforts and ensure rigorous, effective, and compliant testing throughout the program lifecycle.

Assist with development, review, and maintaining program artifacts. This includes requirement traceability, test and analysis plans and reports, as well as methods for tracking program requirements and results.

Manage and standardize the documentation process: Gather team input and generate required reports and briefings that will be delivered to internal and external stakeholders, perform required reviews of all test material that will be delivered to the customer or outside agencies (including Daily Status Reports (DSRs), TORs and TRRS forms), and test status, defect, and final test reports. Recommend enhancements to increase efficiency by identifying areas for improvement, and designing/implementing effective solutions.

Use independent discretion to apply quality assurance (QA) expertise for program documentation artifacts to support test plan development, requirement analysis, general program documentation enhancements, and standardization of processes, as need.

Provides and guides the proper training of new and junior personnel to learn and gain the required skill set needed to support the position.

Attends various planning meetings and program specific working groups for program support and situational awareness.

Monitors, reviews, and updates project specific databases and test management tools that support the assessment of the overall program, as needed.

Independently performs research, analysis, and development of test procedures based on Military Standard defined TDL's and other program specific documentation.

Monitors and maintains all project requirements for planning purposes, and provide updates to the Program Manager at least weekly and immediately if the situation warrants it.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Expert in:

Networking concepts and protocols

One or more programming languages

Requirements management and system architecture design

IEEE standards, systems integration and design principles

Database and Test Management Tools

Model-based system engineering (MBSE) tools, as needed

EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS

Bachelors Degree in STEM related field

INCOSE ASEP (Associate) Certification Preferred

PAY RANGE

$145,000.00 to $175,000.00 annually, DOE

U.S. Citizenship is Required

SECURITY CLEARANCE

Candidates must have an active clearance OR the ability to obtain a US Government security clearance and will be subject to a US security background investigation (i.e. favorable background investigation / credit score). Additional eligibility requirements for access to various levels of classified information may also be required. An active security clearance is highly desirable.
