About this role

Planned Parenthood Los Angeles is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to work in our Downtown Los Angeles Headquarters--please note, this is a temp-to-hire status. In the collaboration with the Payroll team, the Payroll Specialist is responsible for all aspects of payroll including but not limited to the preparation of the bi-weekly payroll for the agency, audit and communication regarding timesheets, the payroll tax filings, interfacing with payroll enterprise on a weekly basis, interfacing with employees on a daily basis and supporting generation of payroll related reports.

Our Ideal Candidate will have the following qualifications:

- Bachelor’s Degree with concentration in Human Resources or related field or equivalent work experience required.

- Minimum 2-3 years benefits and compensation administrative experience.

- SHRM Certification preferred.

- Experience with HRIS and HR reports. UKG preferred

- Ability and willingness to travel within Los Angeles County.

- Reliable means of transportation for onsite and off-site work.

- If using a personal vehicle to drive for work purposes, a valid CA driver license and current auto insurance in compliance with the minimum requirements of CA vehicle code are required.

- Bilingual Spanish preferred.

About the Position:

- Abortion patients are cared for at each of our health centers, and in part through the administrative, support, and other non-clinical services provided at all PPLA locations, and by all PPLA employees. Supporting these critical services is an essential job duty, and a fundamental responsibility of all employees and contractors.

- Process and maintain all benefit related changes in HRIS system including but not limited to new hire enrollments, qualifying event changes and retirement related changes.

- Conduct benefits audits and reconcile enrollment data to ensure accuracy, compliance data integrity within HRIS systems.

- Maintain all benefit related forms such as benefit election forms, annual benefits survey, etc.

- Audit and process benefit insurance invoices i.e. medical, dental, vision, EAP, and life insurance bills to make sure they are current and accurate for approval

- Support annual renewal process to ensure updates and/or changes are communicated to all employees. Provide support on employees of changes and developments related to benefits including eligibility, coverage, and provisions.

- Coordinate the Open Enrollment module annually by updating system information with regards to provider’s updates, benefits data, premiums/rates, and coverage options etc. to ensure accurate deductions are processed bi-weekly.

- Facilitate benefits presentations and benefit related documents during the New Hire Enrollment onboarding.

- Support supervisor with retirement plans 401(k) and 457) to ensure the Organization follows the applicable provisions of COBRA, HIPAA, and ERISA.

- Provide support during audits with TPA and auditor in preparation for the annual filing of Form 5500.

- Ensure timely filing of Form 5500 for Health and Wellness and Retirement Plan.

- Update and maintain all SOPs related to benefits and compensation practices.
