Job Summary

Synechron is seeking a QA Automation Engineer to validate frontend and backend applications through automated, integration and end-to-end testing. The role will test React-based frontend applications and Java-based backend services, ensuring that software meets functional, technical and quality expectations.

The QA Automation Engineer will design, develop, maintain and execute automated test solutions using tools such as Selenium, Playwright, RestAssured, Postman and Cucumber BDD. The role will contribute to reliable releases by identifying defects early, improving test coverage, supporting agile delivery teams and applying structured problem-solving throughout the software development lifecycle.

Software Requirements

Required

- ## Java: Hands-on experience with Java for automation development and testing Java-based backend applications; experience should align with the current project-supported version.
- ## JavaScript and/or TypeScript: Practical coding experience for frontend automation, test utilities or framework development.
- ## React: Experience testing React-based frontend applications.
- ## Selenium: Prior hands-on experience with Selenium and Java for UI automation.
- ## Playwright: Experience with Playwright for browser-based testing is required as part of the broader automation-tool experience.
- ## Cucumber BDD: Experience building or maintaining behavior-driven development frameworks using Cucumber.
- ## REST API Testing: Hands-on experience testing REST APIs, including request validation, response validation, error handling and integration scenarios.
- ## RestAssured: Experience using RestAssured for API automation.
- ## Postman: Experience using Postman for API testing, validation and troubleshooting.
- ## SQL Databases: Familiarity with SQL databases and the ability to validate test data using SQL queries.
- ## Git: Experience using Git for source control, branching, merging and code collaboration.
- ## Jenkins: Experience using Jenkins for automated test execution and continuous integration.
- ## Test Automation Frameworks: Experience designing, building, maintaining and executing reusable automation frameworks.
- ## Internal Automation Tools: Willingness to learn and use Synechron-supported internal tools for automating test cases.

Preferred

- ## Experience combining Selenium, Playwright, RestAssured, Postman and Cucumber within integrated automation solutions.
- ## Experience testing applications across frontend, backend, API and database layers.
- ## Experience maintaining automation pipelines and reviewing test execution results in Jenkins.
- ## Experience with test reporting, parallel execution, cross-browser testing and automation framework optimization.
- ## Familiarity with additional Java, JavaScript or TypeScript testing libraries supported by the project.

Overall Responsibilities

- ## Design, write, maintain and execute automated test cases for React frontend applications and Java backend applications.
- ## Develop and maintain automation frameworks using Cucumber BDD, Selenium, TypeScript and related tools.
- ## Perform functional, regression, integration, API and end-to-end testing across application layers.
- ## Test REST APIs using RestAssured and Postman, validating status codes, payloads, business rules, error responses and data integrity.
- ## Troubleshoot and debug failed automation scripts, identify root causes and collaborate with development teams to resolve issues.
- ## Review test cases and automation approaches, providing clear and actionable feedback.
- ## Validate application data using SQL queries and support database-level test verification.
- ## Integrate automated tests into Jenkins pipelines and use Git for version-controlled test development.
- ## Participate in agile sprint planning, retrospectives and other team ceremonies.
- ## Contribute to test strategy, test coverage, quality reporting, defect analysis and release-readiness decisions.
- ## Support continuous improvement of automation frameworks, test maintainability, execution efficiency and defect detection.
- ## Learn and apply Synechron-supported internal automation tools for test-case automation.
- ## Communicate testing progress, risks, defects, dependencies and quality outcomes to relevant stakeholders.
- ## Ensure testing activities support reliable releases, reduced regression effort and improved product quality.
- ## Apply sustainable testing practices by increasing appropriate automation coverage, reducing repetitive manual execution and maintaining reusable test assets.

Experience Requirements

- ## Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in quality assurance or test automation.
- ## Target experience range: 5–8 years of experience in automation testing.
- ## Prior hands-on experience with Selenium and Java is required.
- ## Experience testing both React frontend applications and Java backend applications is required.
- ## Experience building or maintaining automation frameworks using Cucumber BDD, Selenium and/or TypeScript.
- ## Hands-on experience with REST API testing, including RestAssured and Postman.
- ## Experience with end-to-end testing, test automation, script troubleshooting and test-case maintenance.
- ## Experience using SQL databases for test-data verification.
- ## Experience using Git and Jenkins in software testing or development workflows.
- ## Experience working in an agile team environment and participating in sprint planning and retrospectives.
- ## Preferred experience includes integrated UI, API, backend and database testing within the same product or delivery environment.
- ## Candidates may qualify through equivalent practical experience in software quality engineering, automation development, test framework engineering or full-stack testing that demonstrates the required capabilities.

Day-to-Day Activities

- ## Write, maintain and execute automated test cases for React frontend applications, Java backend services, REST APIs and end-to-end business workflows.
- ## Troubleshoot and debug automation scripts, review test cases, validate SQL data and collaborate with developers and QA team members to resolve defects.
- ## Participate in agile sprint planning, retrospectives and other delivery discussions while communicating test progress, risks, issues and quality outcomes.
- ## Maintain test deliverables, contribute to framework improvements, support Jenkins execution and exercise appropriate decision-making on test coverage, defect escalation and release readiness.

Qualifications

- ## A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related field is preferred; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
- ## Professional certification in software testing, test automation, Agile or a related discipline is preferred but not mandatory.
- ## Practical training or demonstrated experience in Java, Selenium, REST API testing, Cucumber BDD, Playwright, RestAssured, Postman, Git and Jenkins is required.
- ## Willingness to learn and apply Synechron-supported internal tools for automating test cases is required.
- ## Commitment to continuous professional development in automation frameworks, testing techniques, programming languages, CI practices and emerging quality engineering tools.
