The Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Senior Naval Architect to join our growing team in Halifax or St. John's. If you enjoy leading technical work, collaborating with clients and shipyards, mentoring others and working on projects where no two days are quite the same, this could be a great fit.

You will take a lead role on vessel design, modification and operational-support projects, working with multidisciplinary teams, shipyards, vessel operators, classification societies and regulatory authorities .

Key Responsibilities

- Lead naval architecture projects from concept development through detailed design, construction support and in-service operations.

- Prepare and review stability analyses, technical calculations, specifications, reports and regulatory submissions .

- Coordinate multidisciplinary teams of naval architects, marine engineers, designers and project managers .

- Work directly with clients, shipyards, classification societies and regulatory authorities.

- Support vessel modifications, conversions, refits, new construction, surveys, trials and technical investigations.

- Contribute senior technical leadership to projects related to vessel decarbonization, electrification and emerging marine technologies.

- Provide technical oversight and review of engineering deliverables.

- Mentor junior and intermediate team members and contribute to technical knowledge sharing.

- Support proposal development, project planning and client relationship management.

Qualifications

- Degree or Diploma in Naval Architecture or a related discipline.

- 10+ years of relevant experience in naval architecture, vessel design, marine consulting or shipbuilding.

- Strong knowledge of vessel design, stability, structural design principles and/or regulatory compliance.

- Experience working with Transport Canada requirements and classification society rules such as ABS, DNV, Lloyd's Register or Bureau Veritas.

- Demonstrated ability to lead projects and manage client relationships.

- Experience preparing and reviewing technical reports, calculations, specifications and regulatory submissions.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills .

- Ability to mentor and support developing team members.

- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation would be considered an asset.
