The Opportunity

We are looking for a Senior Marine Designer to join our team in Halifax or St. John's. This role is for someone who enjoys the details — developing drawings, models and production information that help shipyards and project teams turn design decisions into buildable work.

You will play a key role in developing vessel designs, production drawings and technical documentation for new construction, refit and conversion projects .

Key Responsibilities

- Develop and review design drawings, arrangements, construction details and installation packages.

- Create and maintain 2D drawings and 3D models for vessel design, modification and conversion projects.

- Coordinate with naval architects, marine engineers, clients, shipyards and suppliers to develop practical design solutions.

- Support vessel inspections, site visits, construction activities, Lidar/3D scanning and field measurements.

- Participate in design reviews processes.

- Contribute to the continuous improvement of design standards, workflows and tools.

Qualifications

- Diploma in Naval Architecture or a related discipline/experience.

- 8+ years of relevant experience in marine design, shipbuilding, vessel conversions or marine consulting.

- Strong understanding of vessel construction practices, marine systems integration and production-design principles.

- Experience preparing detailed construction, fabrication and installation drawings.

- Proficiency with AutoCAD and 3D marine design software.

- Experience working with shipyards, vessel operators and multidisciplinary marine engineering teams on new construction, refit or conversion projects .

- Familiarity with Transport Canada requirements and classification society standards.

- Strong organizational and communication skills .

- Ability to manage multiple assignments and work effectively within multidisciplinary project teams.

- A practical, solutions -focused approach and strong attention to detail.
