Senior Furniture Quality Control Specialist

Summary of the role:

The Senior Bespoke Joinery & Furniture Quality Control Specialist will be responsible for reviewing manufacturing shop drawings and overseeing the end-to-end quality of high-end bespoke furniture and joinery production. The role will ensure that all manufactured pieces meet the required design intent, technical specifications, material standards, workmanship quality, and site installation requirements, maintaining the highest standards expected for luxury projects.

Key Responsibilities:

- Regularly visit furniture vendors, workshops, and manufacturing facilities to inspect samples, materials, workmanship, and production processes.

- Conduct thorough quality inspections throughout the production process to ensure furniture and joinery pieces are manufactured in accordance with approved specifications, shop drawings, design intent, and company quality standards.

- Review and develop manufacturing shop drawings, technical details, material specifications, and production requirements for bespoke furniture and joinery items.

- Monitor production progress and identify potential quality, technical, or production issues at an early stage.

- Provide technical guidance and support to manufacturers and artisans, assisting with the resolution of production, technical, material, and design-related issues.

- Maintain accurate documentation and records of shop drawing revisions, quality inspections, production updates, approvals, and vendor feedback.

- Provide regular and accurate production progress reports to the Logistics and Project Management teams.

- Collaborate closely with Procurement, Logistics, Project Management, and Design teams to ensure all furniture and joinery pieces meet the required design intent, quality standards, delivery requirements, and site installation objectives.

- Conduct pre-delivery and final quality inspections to verify that completed pieces meet approved standards before shipment and site installation.

- Support the coordination between factory production and site installation teams, ensuring any site-related requirements or adjustments are communicated effectively to the manufacturer.

- Stay up to date with the latest materials, manufacturing techniques, craftsmanship standards, and industry practices in bespoke joinery and luxury furniture production.

- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned by Management.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in Furniture Design, Industrial Design, Interior Design, or a related field.

- 10+ years of proven experience in bespoke furniture and joinery production, quality control, and factory inspections.

- Strong previous experience working directly with manufacturers, workshops, and skilled artisans within the luxury FF&E industry.

- Experience with high-end residential, hospitality, or luxury interior projects is highly preferred.

Skills and abilities:

- Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar CAD software, with the ability to review and interpret detailed manufacturing shop drawings.

- Experience with 3D modelling software such as 3ds Max or SketchUp is an advantage.

- Proven experience reviewing shop drawings, production details, materials, finishes, and workmanship to ensure compliance with design intent and required quality standards.

- Strong knowledge of quality control standards and production processes, with excellent attention to detail and a keen eye for design and workmanship quality.

- Ability to identify technical and quality issues and provide effective problem-solving solutions throughout the manufacturing process.

- Excellent communication and coordination skills, with the ability to work effectively with factories, suppliers, designers, and project teams.

- Fluent Turkish language skills are mandatory, both written and spoken.

- Basic command of written and spoken English.

- Valid driving license and willingness to travel regularly for factory visits and production inspections.

Working conditions and Environment:

- The position is remote and site-based, from Istanbul, Turkey.

- The position requires visiting multiple Furniture and Fixtures factories.

- The position has no international business travel requirements.
