Technical Program Manager, Manufacturing Tool Install

Designing, planning, and executing manufacturing tool installations at record speed is fundamental to enabling Tesla to scale its most critical energy and vehicle programs worldwide. Tesla's Tool Install team is responsible for delivering new manufacturing lines across some of the most complex and fast-moving factory programs in the company — spanning Solar Manufacturing in Houston, 4680 Cell Manufacturing at Gigafactory Texas, and Megafactory & Megapod programs.

We are looking for a highly motivated Technical Program Manager to join our Manufacturing Tool Install team. In this role, you will own and drive the full scope of technical planning, engineering coordination, and program execution for manufacturing tool installations — from concept through production handover. You will serve as the connective tissue between Engineering, Construction, Manufacturing, and Logistics teams, ensuring that program goals are aligned, risks are surfaced early, and execution happens at the speed Tesla demands. The ideal candidate brings a strong background in engineering, construction, manufacturing facilities, and technical program management — and thrives in a high-ambiguity, high-accountability environment where no two days are the same.

This role requires a highly organized mindset, an unparalleled ability to pull cross-functional teams together, and the discipline to manage multiple programs simultaneously across multiple active sites. Our installation schedules push the limits of what is physically possible. This requires you to be extremely detail-oriented, identify real hard barriers, and drive teams to execute quickly and at high quality. This role requires willingness to travel to support tool installation programs across multiple sites.

- Own end-to-end technical planning and program execution for manufacturing tool installations across Solar GFTX Cell Manufacturing and Megafactory programs from scope development through production handover
- Scrutinize stakeholder requirements from Manufacturing Facilities and Engineering teams then translate them into clear project scopes with defined execution plans and ownership
- Distill document and manage scope in a highly dynamic multi-site environment to reduce ambiguity and keep all teams aligned on priorities
- Organize design reviews construction packages deliverables technical planning change management and engineering coordination during construction and installation
- Synthesize program report-outs on status risks mitigations and opportunities across management levels while identifying resource gaps in field labor logistics and subcontractors
- Own funding requests conceptual cost development budget tracking and engineering analysis for schedules and budgets to support critical multi-site business decisions
- Build cross-functional relationships influence teams without authority implement innovative methodologies and convert stakeholder inputs into baseline program scope cost and schedule

- Degree in Engineering, or equivalent experience
- Engineering experience on industrial or manufacturing projects from concept to delivery including understanding of building and manufacturing facilities design construction and tool installation
- Advanced project and program management skills demonstrated on complex multi-disciplinary engineering problems
- Ability to execute many projects and tasks in parallel across multiple sites with excellent communication and documentation skills to distill complex problems into clear actionable plans for technical and non-technical audiences
- Positive enthusiastic fast-learner mindset with passion for manufacturing infrastructure and operational excellence who thrives under pressure in ambiguous fast-paced environments
- Willingness to travel for tool installation programs across sites plus ability to work extended hours evenings and weekends as needed
- Construction Project Management experience is a plus along with proficiency in Primavera P6 scheduling software and preferred experience managing subcontractors and consulting engineers
