Manager, Value-Based Care, Strategic Payor Account Management
Location: 05555 – Denver HQ Casa Del Mundo (Full time, Hybrid)
About the Team:
The I ntegrated Kidney Care (I KC ) Account Management team supports a national portfolio of value-based care partnerships and is part of the broader Payor Partnerships team responsible for managing an $ 8B revenue portfolio with national value-based care (VBC) business covering over $5B in medical spend .
We o perat e as a trusted partner and subject matter expert for a highly complex patient population (E nd - Stage Kidney Disease and Chronic Kidney Disease ) , providing critical clinical and operational visibility that our care partners often lack . As advocates for our patients and for DaVita, we guide these partnerships toward mutually beneficial opportunities that improve care and drive sustainable growth.
We focus on consistently demonstrating our value as a partner to increase the likelihood of program renewals and expansions across new markets, disease states, and geographies as well as improving program performance through clinical collaboration and securing necessary payor resources .
The Role:
As a Manager on the IKC Account Management team, you are the external representative of DaVita ’s value-based care business to our care partners , which include health plans, a ccountable c are o rganizations (ACOs) , and health systems. Your scope includes communicating program performance through both internal and external executive forums , surfacing and pursuing opportunities for performance improvement , and providing support for sustainable growth of IKC’s value-based care partnerships.
This is a highly visible role working with executive leadership across DaVita and conducting regular meetings with external stakeholders and senior counterparts at our partner organizations. You will own business d evelopment for existing accounts and collaborate with the broader negotiating team.
Core Responsibilities:
- Growth, Extensions, and Expansions: Identify , develop, and pursue expansion opportunities within assigned accounts against defined growth targets. Support contract extensions and renewals with performance context, partner intelligence, and commercial framing. Partner with the B usiness D evelopment Director and negotiating team on strategy for assigned accounts.
- Joint Operating Committee (JOC) Leadership: Own the end-to-end JOC cycle across assigned accounts, including cadence, standing agenda, and preparation timeline. Construct the performance narrative presented to partners: synthesize clinical, actuarial, and financial results into a coherent case, communicate outcomes, and position new clinical programs and pilots to build partner confidence. Convene clinical, actuarial, finance, and risk adjustment stakeholders to secure inputs on deadline; and reconcile conflicting figures before they reach the partner. Lead internal pre-reads with executive leadership , facilitate the JOC , and drive follow-ups to closure.
- Account Ownership: Serve as the accountable owner for assigned accounts, including relationship health and partner experience . Maintain working command of contract terms and interpret performance results for payor-facing use. Route net-new partner requests through the established intake path and represent IKC priorities/requests to payors. Build and maintain durable account documentation, including contract summaries, stakeholder maps, and JOC playbooks.
- Team Leadership: Manage, develop, and set clear objectives and expectations for the teammates supporting your portfolio. Coach individuals based on their unique development needs, and foster an environment of psychological safety that clears the path for their professional growth.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required .
- Minimum of five ( 5 ) years' experience in healthcare, managed care, consulting, or a related field; direct experience with value-based care or shared-risk partnerships strongly preferred .
- Demonstrated experience owning external client or partner relationships.
- Demonstrated ability to synthesize clinical and financial data into a persuasive narrative for a senior external audience.
- Experience collaborating with leaders and peers in other lanes to drive results and successfully manag e multiple concurrent workstreams.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook required .
Additional Success Factors:
- Experience supporting commercial growth, renewals, or account expansion.
- Working knowledge of i nsurance rules and regulations for health care payors and value-based care providers .
- Strong interpersonal skills and the credibility to serve as a thought partner to internal executives and external partner leadership.
- People management experience preferred.

The Salary Range for the role is $78,000.00 - $119,000.00 per year.
