Construction Manager

We are seeking an experienced Construction Manager to join our aviation programme team and lead the safe and successful delivery of major construction packages within a complex, live operational environment.

The Construction Manager will oversee site delivery activities, manage contractors and consultants, monitor construction performance, and ensure that projects are delivered in accordance with approved programme, quality, safety, commercial, and operational requirements. The role requires strong leadership, stakeholder management, and practical construction expertise across large-scale building and infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving excellence in delivery while ensuring minimal disruption to ongoing operations.

What You'll Do

- Lead and manage construction delivery activities across multiple project packages.
- Monitor contractor performance to ensure compliance with project requirements, specifications, quality standards, and programme commitments.
- Oversee site execution, construction sequencing, logistics planning, and coordination activities.
- Ensure the safe delivery of works in accordance with project HSE requirements and industry best practices.
- Coordinate and manage site interfaces between contractors, consultants, client stakeholders, and operational teams.
- Review and monitor construction schedules, progress reports, and recovery plans.
- Identify construction risks and implement mitigation measures to minimise impacts on programme and budget.
- Lead site inspections, quality reviews, testing, commissioning, and handover activities.
- Support change management, variation reviews, and commercial assessments.
- Chair site meetings and coordinate resolution of technical and delivery-related issues.
- Ensure construction activities comply with statutory regulations, permits, and operational constraints.
- Prepare and present project progress reports to senior stakeholders and programme leadership.
- Promote a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and delivery excellence across the project team.

You'll Need To Have

- Degree qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related discipline.
- Professional membership with a recognised institution such as CIOB, ICE, RICS, PMI, or equivalent is desirable.
- Significant experience in construction management of major building, infrastructure, transportation, or aviation projects.
- Proven track record managing contractors and delivering projects through the construction phase.
- Strong understanding of construction methodologies, sequencing, site logistics, quality assurance, and commissioning processes.
- Experience administering construction contracts and managing consultant and contractor performance.
- Strong understanding of HSE management and safe systems of work.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple interfaces and coordinate complex construction activities within operational environments.

You'll Also Have

- Previous experience on airport, transportation, or other mission-critical infrastructure projects.
- Experience delivering projects within operational facilities where business continuity is essential.
- Knowledge of testing, commissioning, operational readiness, and handover processes.
- Experience working within a PMC, consultancy, or client-side project management environment.
- Strong leadership capability with the ability to motivate and manage diverse project teams.

- Effective management of contractor performance and construction risks.
- Successful coordination of interfaces between stakeholders and project packages.
- Compliance with project governance, reporting, and assurance processes.
- Achievement of project milestones and successful handover of completed assets.
