Account Manager – Commercial Lines
Our client is a well-established insurance organization with approximately 100 employees and a collaborative, team-oriented culture. The company provides commercial insurance solutions to businesses across a variety of industries and places a strong emphasis on long-term client relationships, responsive service, accuracy, and employee development. This is a close-knit environment where team members know one another, work collaboratively, and take pride in delivering consistent service to their clients. The Select Account Manager will join an established commercial lines team and have the opportunity to grow into larger or more complex accounts, a Senior Account Manager position, or a future Team Lead role. This is a hybrid position with a standard schedule of approximately 8:30 AM–5:00 PM.
About the Role
The Select Account Manager will serve as the primary service contact for a high-volume book of approximately 200 small commercial accounts representing roughly $2–$4 million in total premium. The book includes contractors, restaurants, retail businesses, small offices, local service companies, small property owners, and other small commercial clients. Success in this role requires someone who is highly organized, responsive, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy and client service.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned small commercial clients.
- Manage approximately 200 commercial accounts while maintaining strong client relationships and retention.
- Handle client requests, policy changes, billing questions, certificates, endorsements, audits, and other service needs.
- Manage the renewal process from start to finish, including gathering documentation, reviewing coverage, preparing proposals, and comparing available markets.
- Process endorsements, certificates, audits, and policy changes accurately within AMS360.
- Respond to client needs promptly while meeting established service-level expectations and deadlines.
- Maintain a minimum client and renewal retention target of 90%.
- Complete service requests, endorsements, and certificates within established 24–72-hour timeframes.
- Maintain a high level of processing accuracy and complete, up-to-date account documentation.
- Monitor workload and minimize overdue items in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Partner with Associate Account Managers, Team Leaders, Marketing, and insurance carriers to resolve issues and maintain efficient workflows.
- Communicate proactively with clients and internal partners regarding outstanding information, renewals, changes, and service issues.
- Use AMS360 and other insurance technology platforms to maintain accurate account records and manage daily workflows.
- Contribute to a collaborative team environment focused on responsive service, organization, and long-term client relationships.
Qualifications
- The ideal candidate will have prior Commercial Lines insurance experience and be comfortable independently managing a high-volume book of small commercial accounts.
- This role is best suited for an organized, process-driven professional who can balance competing priorities without sacrificing accuracy or responsiveness.
Required Skills
- 2–5+ years of Commercial Lines insurance experience, with small commercial experience strongly preferred.
- Active Property & Casualty license required, or ability to obtain one.
- Previous experience managing commercial insurance accounts from a service and account-management perspective.
- Experience with AMS360 required; exposure to EPIC is a plus.
- Strong understanding of commercial policy servicing, endorsements, certificates, renewals, audits, and client requests.
- Demonstrated ability to manage a high-volume workload while consistently meeting deadlines.
- Highly organized and process-driven with strong attention to detail.
- Excellent accuracy and documentation skills.
- Strong communication and client-service abilities.
- Ability to prioritize multiple accounts and competing requests in a fast-paced environment.
- Responsive, dependable, and comfortable working as part of a collaborative team.
- Ability to maintain strong client relationships and contribute to high retention levels.
- Candidates without prior commercial insurance experience will not be considered.
