Internship, Reliability Test Engineer, Energy Engineering (Winter/Spring 2027)

This position is expected to start January 2027 and continue through the entire Winter/Spring term (i.e through April/May 2027) or into Summer 2027 if available. We ask for a minimum of 12 weeks, full-time (40 hours/week) and on-site, for most internships.

International Students: If your work authorization is through CPT, please consult your school before applying. You must be able to work 40 hours per week. Many students will be limited to part-time during the academic year.

About the Role

The Energy Products Reliability team is a diverse, multi-disciplinary group of engineers focused on delivering the most reliable, robust and capable energy storage and solar products to our customers – both residential and industrial.

The team is looking for passionate engineering students with a background in mechanical, electrical and thermals engineering – excited about working hands-on with industry-leading sustainable technologies.

Location: Palo Alto, CA

- Learn to design, build, and deploy robust testing platforms to validate and de-risk our next-generation Tesla Energy and Charging products – working hands-on with prototype hardware
- Collaborate closely with key stakeholders (design, firmware, manufacturing, service, etc.) to execute engineering validation and long-term reliability testing programs on critical electromechanical and thermals systems. The results these tests will directly drive design and process improvements as part of our product development cycle

- Pursuing a degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Thermal Engineering or related field
- Experience applying core engineering principles working hands-on with hardware
- Experience utilizing CAD software (Solidworks, CATIA, etc) and scripting languages
- Proficiency with standard lab and fabrication tools (power tools, multi-meter, etc.)

Expected Compensation $20.00 - $50.00 + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
