About this role
The Power Conversion & Charging Systems team develops, integrates, and validates real-time embedded software that bridges high/low voltage systems, chargers, actuators, and grid infrastructure. Our systems power & charge every Tesla we ship worldwide, serving mission-critical features from daily driving & charging to Powershare & FSD. As a Software Validation Engineer, you'll be a key member of the design team, partnering closely with talented design engineers and cross-functional partners, shaping both today’s vehicles and the products and features still ahead. You will build validation plans, test cases, and automation tooling that accelerate development and meaningfully expand test coverage. Through the lens of validation, you will also create simulation infrastructure — including circuit model simulation, virtual vehicle systems, and fault injection simulations — so the team can explore, prove, and harden designs faster and with greater confidence. Join a dedicated, highly skilled team and help deliver cutting-edge products that make a real impact.
Develop firmware test plans & test cases for current and future products using C/C++, pytest or gtest on Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) & Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) platforms Develop simulation model & fault injection platforms for firmware validation such as circuit simulation in software, FPGA and HIL Work with integration, system validation and firmware engineers to create & maintain safety concepts, requirements, and test plans for new products Develop software tooling and data pipeline to create & upload test coverage reports onto Tesla’s internal server for firmware release and sign-off Create & integrate pipelines and workflows to upload testing data or report from simulation sweeps Create test filtering and load balancing infrastructure to keep build times in CI/simulation cluster down
Degree in Computer Science, Mechatronics, Electrical, Mechanical or Systems Engineering or equivalent experience Strong Python and scripting skills with SI enablement Strong electrical engineering & circuit fundamentals Experience creating validation plans for embedded systems Experience with pytest, gtest or an equivalent testing framework Experience working with CI/CD, data pipelines, data analysis, PCBA schematics, FPGA design, and circuit model simulation is a plus
