About the role
DP World is hiring a Director of Procurement to lead and reshape procurement across DP World Oceania, delivering strategic commercial outcomes, sustainable savings, strong supplier management and solid procurement governance. Providing executive leadership across Procurement, you will partner closely with senior leaders across the business capabilities to build a high-performing procurement function one capable of supporting growth, major projects, operational requirements and capital investment while delivering value and managing risk.
The role leads procurement strategy, category management, supplier relationships, sourcing and tenders, and contract governance, and is accountable for ensuring procurement delivers measurable value while meeting DP World's policies, ethical standards and regulatory obligations.
Key Accountabilities –
- Set the direction, build and lead the Oceania Procurement Strategy, aligned to DP World's global playbook, and bring strong leadership to the function.
- Build a procurement operating model that works business partnering, category expertise, sourcing and transactional support and keep evolving it.
- Introduce procurement at the beginning of the process, shaping business planning, major projects and investment decisions from day one as senior procurement advisor to the Oceania Executive.
- Drive sustainable savings and commercial value through smart benchmarking, market testing, sharp negotiation and a savings pipeline with real accountability.
- Lead category strategy and strategic sourcing across major spend areas, running complex tenders and rigorous supplier selection.
- Own key supplier and contract relationships, working closely with Finance and Operations so tenders solve real business problems.
- Maintain strong procurement governance, risk management and compliance across the function.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience required:
- 15+ years in procurement or commercial leadership, including solid time in senior procurement roles within large, complex organisations.
- Porven track record of building procurement strategies, operating models and transformation programs that genuinely move the needle.
- Deep experience in strategic sourcing, category management and negotiating high-value, complex contracts.
- Proven ability to turn a savings target into money the business sees with a track record of translating procurement strategy into measurable, sustainable commercial outcomes.
- Experience getting procurement into major projects infrastructure, property, technology, capital works and transformation.
- Strong grounding in procurement governance, risk and responsible sourcing, including Modern Slavery compliance.
- Experience leading procurement teams or shared services, including restructuring and building capability.
- Exposure to mergers, acquisitions or major change, with a knack for bringing consistency across different businesses.
- Hands-on experience with ERP, e-sourcing and contract lifecycle systems, with an eye for data and process efficiency.
- Experience in ports, logistics, freight, warehousing or other asset-intensive industries is a real plus.
- A relevant degree (Procurement, Supply Chain, Business, Commerce, Finance or similar); CIPS, MCIPS or CPSM highly regarded.
