About this role
The position is essentially a patient navigator who serves as the main contact point for patients with EGFR-mutated lung cancer, helping them navigate the complex healthcare system throughout their cancer journey. Beyond initial navigation, the coordinator plays a meaningful role in accompanying patients through disease progression - providing psycho-emotional support, helping them understand their options, and coordinating the clinical and logistical steps that follow. Patients facing disease progression are often overwhelmed and benefit greatly from a dedicated person who can guide them through the process of rebiopsy, treatment decision-making, and access to clinical trials or new therapeutic options. Having a single point of contact from initial diagnosis to disease progression and beyond - who can bridge the clinical team, allied health professionals, and the patient ensures a smoother, more supported journey at every stage.
Your responsibilities will include:
Coordination of rebiopsy and post-progression investigations
- Coordinate the back-end logistics following a patient's decision to proceed with rebiopsy or further investigations, including arranging biopsy appointments, imaging, and relevant referrals.
- Flag patients who may require further/more complex psychoemotional support with MSW/Nurses
- Liaise with the relevant departments (e.g. interventional radiology, pathology, clinical trials team) to facilitate timely scheduling and follow-through.
- Track the status of investigations and ensure results are communicated to the care team and patient in a timely manner.
Tracking of patients upon disease progression
- Maintain a dedicated tracking system for EGFR lung cancer patients who have experienced disease progression. Monitor their progress through rebiopsy, results, treatment decisions, and enrolment into clinical trials or new therapies.
- List patients for MDT discussion if relevant
- Flag patients who may have fallen through the cracks or require follow-up, and proactively reach out to ensure continuity of care.
Assist with patient queries post consultation
- Assist with patient queries post consultation (in person, via WhatsApp, calls and emails), including guidance on managing side effects, clarifications on appointments, and shifting of appointments.
- Reach out directly to patients less familiar with technology. Direct queries to the relevant specialists as necessary.
Patient support, education, events and others
- Support the EGFR patients for EGFR related patient education activities, eg relevant focus groups or education materials
- Collaborate with the rest of the Lung Cancer Education and Advocacy for Patients (LEAP) team to support activities
Requirements
- Degree in relevant discipline (science background preferred)
- At least 2 years of relevant working experience in Healthcare setting
- Good communication and people skills, compassionate, empathic.
- Ability to interact and liaise with other departments and agencies including government bodies and private institutions.
- Competent in using computer software and programs (to assess relevant patient information)
- Able to work independently with initiative and creativity
