Job Description

The Lead Network Engineer operates the company’s internal data communications systems, including LANs and WANs. This role plans, designs, and implements networked systems, including configurations, supporting and troubleshooting network problems, and coordinating with vendors for installation of routers, bridges, concentrators, and switches. The Lead Network Engineer works on project implementation, provides training, assists with proposal writing, and conducts project planning, cost analysis, and vendor comparisons.

All roles require digital fluency, including the ability to work with emerging technologies such as Generative AI tools (e.g. ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot) to support everyday work.
Key Responsibilities:

- Design and implement deployments spanning private data centers and public cloud environments, emphasizing infrastructure as code network connectivity for Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure.
- Provide senior technology leadership in network architecture, network automation, and public cloud environments.
- Contribute to network architecture strategy for Private/Hybrid/Public Cloud adoption, collaborating with stakeholders, partners, and customers.
- Architect, design, and deliver innovative solutions to enable public cloud connectivity with private data centers.
- Develop standard automation templates for deployment of public cloud infrastructure and platform components.
- Use cloud-native approaches for solutions based on business goals, objectives, and requirements, while integrating with legacy solutions.
- Design security into all projects and processes for design, implementation, and operational stages.
- Provide knowledge transfer to engineering and operations teams on architecture, design, and delivery of public cloud solutions.
- Drive software development for Infrastructure as Code (IAC) efforts across Private/Hybrid/Multi Cloud environments.
- Influence enterprise technology selection and define High Level Design documentation for key technology initiatives.
- Collaborate with network engineering, cyber security, and operations teams.
- Make recommendations on next-generation capabilities to support new business opportunities.
- Drive coordination, consensus, and execution to mitigate cyber risk issues and emerging threats.

Visa   requires   at least 3 days in office, expectations of these days will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

- 10+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 7 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 4 years of work experience with a PhD, OR 13+ years of relevant work experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

- 12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 8-10 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 6+ years of work experience with a PhD
- BS/MS in Computer Science, Computer or Electrical Engineering, Science, or Math
- 4+ years experience in cloud networking (public, private, hybrid/multi cloud) technologies, particularly AWS, Azure, GCP.
- 2+ years of proven experience with GCP and/or Azure including design and implementation of enterprise-level solutions
- Experience in designing and implementing networked systems for LANs and WANs.
- Experience in network automation and infrastructure as code technologies.
- Experience in public cloud environments (Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure, AWS).
- Experience in developing automation templates for cloud infrastructure.
- Experience in integrating cloud-native solutions with legacy systems.
- Experience in designing secure, scalable, repeatable, and highly available network solutions.
- Experience in providing technical leadership and knowledge transfer to engineering teams.
- Experience in software development for Infrastructure as Code (IAC).
- Experience in collaborating with cross-functional teams (network engineering, cyber security, operations)..
- Demonstrated experience with hands-on Infrastructure as Code (IaC) development and deployment in Hybrid Cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP) environments.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience in developing Terraform and Terragrunt frameworks for automated hybrid cloud deployments.
- Demonstrated experience with open-source infrastructure as code software and automation software development tools (Terraform, Terragrunt, env0, Ansible, Python, Chef, Puppet, Salt).
- Recent experience in modern networking architecture practice including network design/operations for campus, DC, and WAN environments leveraging leading networking technologies across multi-vendor deployments (Arista, Cisco, Juniper, Dell).
- Experience with networking tooling applications and networking ancillary services.
- Experience with networking best practices, particularly networking security best practices, firewalling/VPN experience.
- Advanced certifications a plus: CCDE, CCIE/CCNP (R&S or SP/Security), AWS certified advanced networking, AWS certified solution architect, MS-Azure certified solutions architect, etc..
