This position is part of the eBay EMEA Government Relations Team and will lead eBay’s EU Institutions-focused government relations efforts in Brussels. The Director GR EU reports directly to the Head GR EMEA and is responsible for developing and implementing legislative, regulatory and political strategies and lobbying campaigns to advance eBay’s brand, business model and commercial interests with policy makers, regulators and other relevant partners within the EU institutions.

The Director GR EU will lead a small team of Brussels-based GR/Policy experts and work closely with the EMEA and global GR Team, as well as internal partners in Legal, Communications and the Business teams.

This role will be responsible for:

- Developing and leading eBay’s regulatory and legislative lobbying strategy and campaigns vis-à-vis the EU Institutions;
- Building on and expanding existing key relationships with EU Commission, European Parliament and other relevant EU institutional partners;
- Leading the analysis of relevant legislative and regulatory proposals, and assess the impact to the business, including e-commerce- and platform-related issues, as well as areas such as payment services, tax, customs regulations, AI and competition;
- Managing and expanding the Brussels-based EU affairs team and related operational budget;
- Supervising engagement with trade associations;
- Briefing and advising local and international senior leadership on political, regulatory and legislative matters.

Role Requirements:

- University Degree, preferably in law and/or political science;
- 12-15 years government relations experience in relation to the EU Institutions;
- Broad existing and proven network in EU institution circles and strong relationships with EU officials indispensable;
- One of the official EU languages as mother tongue and a very high degree of fluency (spoken and written) in English;
- Thorough understanding of EU government, legislative, regulatory and political processes;
- Exceptional writing, communication, and presentation skills;
- Superb organizational skills - adept at juggling multiple responsibilities;
- A demonstrated ability to develop and execute advocacy campaigns;
- A creative and strategic thinker with leadership skills to effectively work with and influence diverse audiences, both internal and external;
- A self-starter with an ability to work independently and experience in managing a small team;
- Results-oriented with excellent interpersonal skills and good judgment;
- Experience navigating complex, multi-cultural business structures and successfully supporting and collaborating with business leadership;
- Flexible, adaptable, and a proven ability to turn challenges into opportunities;
- A great sense of humor.
