WHAT YOU WILL DO
Preventive Maintenance
- Perform planned maintenance on production, packaging and utility equipment.
- Inspect machinery and identify potential failures before breakdowns occur.
- Ensure equipment reliability and optimal performance.
Breakdown Maintenance
- Diagnose mechanical faults and equipment failures.
- Carry out repairs efficiently to minimise downtime.
- Use appropriate diagnostic techniques to determine root causes.
Installation and Commissioning
- Install new machinery and equipment.
- Assist with commissioning and start-up activities.
- Verify that equipment operates according to specifications.
Equipment Improvements
- Modify or upgrade equipment to improve: Performance Efficiency Safety Reliability
Safety and Compliance
- Follow Tiger Brands safety procedures and engineering standards.
- Maintain housekeeping in workshops and production areas.
- Participate in risk assessments and safety inspections.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING
Knowledge and Skills Required
- Strong mechanical fitting skills.
- Good understanding of packaging machinery.
- Good understanding of compressed air systems and steam generation equipment.
- Ability to troubleshoot and solve technical problems.
- Attention to detail and ability to work independently.
Minimum Qualifications
- N4 Mechanical Engineering.
- Red Seal Trade Certificate in: Fitter Fitter & Turner Millwright Or equivalent recognised trade qualification.
Experience
- Proven experience as a fitter or in a related maintenance role.
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems and industrial equipment.

- Plant availability and uptime.
- Maintenance schedule compliance.
- Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF).
- Breakdown response and repair time.
- Safety compliance and zero lost-time incidents.
- Maintenance cost control and continuous improvement initiatives.
