Construction began in 2014, with commercial production commencing in 2016. The operation includes five open pits and processes ore using a conventional mill and Carbon-in-Leach (CIL) circuit. Newmont owns a 75% interest in Merian, with the remaining 25% held by Suriname’s state-owned oil company. ##### Purpose

Oversee and ensure compliance with environmental regulations, maintain and calibrate equipment, implement quality control processes, assess and report data, support personnel on safety, liaise with external labs, document activities, provide technical support, and monitor inventory.

##### Essential Duties

- Supervise environmental sampling and testing procedures
- Administer laboratory compliance with environmental regulations
- Maintain and prepare laboratory equipment
- Prepare and execute laboratory quality control processes
- Assess environmental data and deliver findings
- Support laboratory personnel on safety and standard methodology
- Prepare and maintain records of all laboratory activities
- Liaise with external labs for specialized testing
- Deliver technical support for environmental projects
- Monitor inventory of laboratory supplies and materials

##### Training & Experience

Knowledge:

- Note that the primary skills discussed include environmental sampling, laboratory compliance, and quality control processes.
- Considering the advisory aspect of the role, the accepted body of knowledge, such as formal education qualifications in Environmental
- Science, Chemistry, or related fields, should be taken into account to support these activities within your organization.
- Include required knowledge that has been gained through work practice with laboratory equipment maintenance and data analysis.
- Essential soft skills for leadership and support functions should be included.
- Ensure that proficiency in these knowledge areas, including safety training and technical support, is clearly described.

Technical Skills:

- For this Advisor role, the applicant must demonstrate advanced proficiency in these areas.
