Role Overview

The Senior Specialist – Consumer Make in India & Category Management will primarily be responsible for driving Lenovo India's Consumer Make in India (MII) strategy and execution , while also managing key category, alliance, and consumer-insights responsibilities.

The role will work closely with Lenovo AP teams, manufacturing partners, supply chain, product teams, finance, strategic technology partners, and global stakeholders to identify and execute opportunities for local manufacturing, ensure supply readiness, and support the growth and profitability of the Consumer business.

In addition, the role will own the Consumer Chromebook category , manage strategic technology alliances, and provide actionable consumer and market insights to support business decisions.

Key Responsibilities

1. Make in India – Primary Responsibility

- Own and manage the end-to-end Consumer Make in India process , from product identification and feasibility assessment through manufacturing readiness and execution.
- Assess the Consumer product portfolio and identify products/categories suitable for local manufacturing in India .
- Evaluate business, operational, supply-chain and commercial considerations for bringing products into local manufacturing.
- Coordinate closely with AP teams to align product roadmaps, manufacturing plans, supply requirements and MII priorities.
- Work with manufacturing teams and partners to drive execution, readiness and successful ramp-up of MII products.
- Manage forecast, supply and demand planning for locally manufactured products and proactively identify supply risks and gaps.
- Work cross-functionally with Product, Supply Chain, Procurement, Finance and Operations teams to ensure smooth execution of MII initiatives.
- Track key MII milestones, issues, dependencies and business impact, and provide regular updates to leadership.
- Identify opportunities to improve localization, cost competitiveness, supply resilience and operational efficiency .
- Support Lenovo's broader India manufacturing and localization strategy, including relevant government initiatives and programs.

2. Consumer Chromebook Category Management

- Own the Consumer Chromebook category and manage the overall category business performance.
- Drive P&L management , including revenue, margin, cost and profitability objectives.
- Manage end-to-end supply, demand, forecasting and inventory for the Chromebook portfolio.
- Identify opportunities to improve portfolio performance, inventory health and overall category profitability.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders to manage product lifecycle, supply constraints, launches and business priorities.

3. Strategic Alliance Management

- Coordinate with alliance partners on business initiatives, product programs, joint activities and relevant Consumer priorities.
- Ensure effective internal alignment and execution of partner-led programs.

4. Consumer Category Insights & Market Intelligence

- Own the GfK relationship and end-to-end consumer market intelligence process for the Consumer business.
- Manage and utilize GfK, IDC and other relevant consumer/market reports to generate actionable business insights.
- Analyze market trends, category performance, competitive movements, pricing and consumer dynamics.
- Translate market data into clear recommendations for product, category, pricing and business strategy.
- Own the AP BMS deck end-to-end , ensuring accurate, timely and insightful reporting of Consumer business performance.
- Develop regular management insights and presentations to support decision-making by senior leadership.

Key Deliverables / Success Measures

- Successful execution of the Consumer Make in India roadmap and localization targets.
- Identification and successful transition of appropriate Consumer products to local manufacturing.
- Improved supply availability, forecast accuracy and inventory health for MII products.
- Strong financial and operational performance of the Consumer Chromebook category .
- Effective management of strategic technology alliances and partner programs.
- Generation of actionable insights that contribute to Consumer business growth, profitability and market competitiveness .

Required Experience & Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations, Marketing or a related discipline ; MBA is preferred.
- 5–10 years of relevant experience in consumer electronics, technology, PC, manufacturing, supply chain, category management, business management or a related field.
- Strong understanding of Make in India, local manufacturing and supply-chain processes .
- Experience managing cross-functional projects involving regional/global teams.
- Strong business acumen with experience in P&L, forecasting, supply-demand planning and business performance management .
- Experience working with technology partners, OEM/ODM partners or ecosystem stakeholders is preferred.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to translate market/business data into actionable insights.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to operate effectively in a matrixed, fast-paced and globally connected organization .
