Senior or Principal Consultant – Sustainable Transport

In DNV’s Transport team, we are driven by the vision to deliver a net-zero future across all modes of transportation. Recognising the complexity of the transition, we work across the entire value chain which includes electric vehicles, EV charging infrastructure and the battery value chain.

The Sustainable Transport team sits within DNV’s Business Advisory unit and has a strong focus on supporting investments across the transport value chain through technical and commercial advisory and due diligence services.

We work across the E-Mobility value chain, which includes financial institutions, OEMs, asset owners and operators, government and regulatory bodies, and start-ups. We also work closely across DNV energy systems including where there is an integration of battery storage and renewables into infrastructure projects.

Our Opportunity

We are looking for consultants with expertise in automotive, transport and mobility to help clients understand the opportunities, risks and practical challenges associated with transport electrification and emerging mobility technologies.

Your background will include significant experience in one or more of the following areas:

- Electric vehicle deployment, including e-Bus and e-HGV programmes
- EV charging infrastructure strategy, deployment and operations
- The battery value chain, including novel technologies, manufacturing, second-life and end-of-life solutions.

The role will involve developing as a subject matter expert, client and project leader in one or more of these areas, with the opportunity to shape the role around your interests and market developments.

Successful Senior and Principal Consultants balance project management and delivery with longer term practice development, which includes development of new services and capabilities, team development and business development activities.

This role can be based from either our London or Bristol offices, with flexibility to work under our hybrid working model. Travel will be required to support client engagements, project delivery and internal collaboration.

Responsibilities

- Project management: Manage due diligence and advisory projects, acting as client’s key point of contact, and guiding a team of consultants to execute project objectives
- Project delivery: Work as a subject matter expert, leading work packages in a range of transport projects, including supporting global projects
- Thought leadership: Develop thought leadership material and represent DNV at events areas to support industry engagement and practice development
- Business Development: Engage with senior stakeholders in our customers’ organisations and through your network to identify and develop new business opportunities
- Proposal development: Develop proposals based on client discussions or more formal tender processes
- Communication: Establish, build, and maintain collaborative relationships with clients, colleagues and other stakeholders
- Technical leadership and mentoring: Support the development of others through training, coaching and mentoring.

- Experience of working in a consulting environment, with a specialty in automotive, transport or mobility
- Experience of electric vehicle deployment, EV charging infrastructure, and battery value chain
- Experienced in technical and/or commercial due diligence projects
- Technical expertise which includes: asset selection, deployment considerations, useful life analysis, operations and maintenance strategies and contract analysis
- Commercial expertise which includes: market and competitor assessment, market sizing, customer analysis, and financial model reviews
- Experience in leading projects and/or workstreams, with strong reporting and analysis skills
- Commercially minded, with experience developing client relationships, identifying opportunities, understanding market trends and helping shape service offerings that meet evolving customer needs
- A master’s degree in automotive, mechanical or electrical engineering is highly desirable but not mandatory
- A valid UK Driving Licence would also be highly advantageous for site/client visits where needed.
