CAD Drafter / Fabrication Drafter

Location: Fully Onsite - Brooklyn Navy Yard Job Type: Contract (4 Months) Schedule: Monday-Friday, Preferred Hours 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM EST We are seeking a talented CAD Drafter / Fabrication Drafter to support a variety of custom fabrication projects, including experiential environments, retail displays, exhibits, architectural installations, and other unique custom-built structures. This is an excellent opportunity for a drafting professional who thrives in a fast-paced fabrication environment and enjoys seeing projects move quickly from concept to production. The ideal candidate has experience creating fabrication-ready documentation and can work independently while collaborating closely with production teams and project leadership.

Responsibilities

- Create detailed technical drawings and shop drawings for custom fabrication projects.
- Develop complete fabrication packages, including assemblies, details, bill of materials, and production documentation.
- Utilize parametric 3D modeling software to generate fabrication-ready models and drawings.
- Translate design concepts into practical, buildable components.
- Communicate fabrication and engineering intent through clear documentation and drawings.
- Revise and update drawings based on fabrication, production, and project requirements.
- Collaborate with project teams to ensure designs are manufacturable and meet production deadlines.
- Manage multiple active projects while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
- Support fast-turn fabrication projects with minimal supervision.

Required Qualifications

- 1+ years of drafting experience in a fabrication-focused environment.
- Proficiency in at least one of the following: Fusion 360
- SolidWorks
- Inventor

- Experience creating: Shop Drawings
- Technical Drawings
- Fabrication Packages
- Assembly Drawings
- Production Documentation

- Experience supporting fabrication projects from concept through production.
- Strong understanding of fabrication processes and manufacturing constraints.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Must have access to your own workstation and drafting software.
- Must be able to provide shop drawing samples during the interview process.

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Brooklyn, NY.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $33.00 - $43.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
