Shift: 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Pay Rate: $31.51/hour

Summary Description

The Multi-Tech III is an advanced technical position responsible for safely setting up, operating, troubleshooting, and optimizing thermoforming equipment to produce high-quality products efficiently and consistently.

In this role, you will perform tooling changeovers, fine-tune equipment, verify materials and job specifications, monitor product quality, and ensure production runs meet customer requirements. As a Multi-Tech III, you will also use your advanced thermoforming knowledge to troubleshoot complex tooling and process issues, identify root causes of defects, optimize machine performance, and provide technical assistance to other team members.

What You’ll Be Doing

Thermoforming Setup & Operation

- Follow all safety procedures and help maintain a safe working environment around operating equipment.
- Review job orders to verify tooling, materials, customer specifications, and correct revision levels before beginning production.
- Retrieve tooling components for upcoming jobs from the kitting department.
- Inspect tooling for damage from previous production runs or storage.
- Record teardown and setup start and completion times accurately.
- Order required materials for new tooling and upcoming production runs.
- Initiate and follow Energy Isolation procedures during equipment setup and changeovers.
- Perform accurate and timely tooling changeovers and machine setups.
- Fine-tune thermoforming equipment to achieve required product specifications and quality standards.
- Adjust presses as needed to consistently produce acceptable finished goods.
- Record product dimensions at the beginning of each run and every three hours thereafter.
- Work with Packers to determine when products meet requirements and are ready for packing.
- Provide Packer coverage when needed.
- Monitor reclaim quality according to established reclaim procedures.
- Perform minor machine maintenance as needed.
- Support daily housekeeping activities within and around the thermoforming area.

Advanced Tooling & Troubleshooting

- Complete setups and fine-tune a variety of tooling, including double-action, single-action, label, match-metal, slug-clear machine, and face-seal tools.
- Perform both simple and complex thermoforming setups with little to no guidance.
- Optimize machine speeds while maintaining required product quality.
- Troubleshoot complex tooling, equipment, and process issues without outside direction.
- Improve production speed and perfect the quality of complex tools and setups.
- Apply a thorough understanding of the thermoforming process and its relationship to Engineering when troubleshooting production issues.
- Analyze defects and quality concerns to determine the root cause of tooling and material issues.
- Make appropriate equipment and process adjustments based on troubleshooting findings.
- Understand the operating and setup requirements for all applicable thermoforming tools and machines, including equipment within the medical room.
- Assist other technicians with equipment setups, fine-tuning, troubleshooting, and complex tooling issues.
- Share technical knowledge and provide hands-on support to help develop other technicians.
- Continually look for opportunities to improve setup efficiency, machine performance, production speed, and finished-product quality.

- A high school diploma or equivalent
- You have strong mechanical aptitude.
- You have knowledge of basic math.
- You can speak, read, and write English.
- You are experienced using hand and precision measuring tools such as micrometers, dial indicators, and calipers.
- You are skilled in the operation, setup, and troubleshooting of various types of thermoforming machines.
- You have an excellent understanding of plastic quality standards.
- You have strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- You demonstrate a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- You can independently troubleshoot complex tooling, material, equipment, and quality issues.
- You can assist and support other technicians with setups, fine-tuning, and complex tooling issues.
- You motivate others through involvement and positive reinforcement.
- You continually look for opportunities to raise expectations and improve performance.

Physical & Environmental Requirements

- Ability to operate vacuum- and pressure-forming machines.
- Ability to work at surfaces approximately 40 inches in height.
- Ability to push approximately 40–60 pounds at chest height.
- Ability to pull approximately 40–60 pounds at waist height.
- Ability to handle tooling that may weigh approximately 45–65 pounds, depending on size.
- Ability to stand for 10+ hours per day.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment that may include high temperatures of up to approximately 100°F during summer months, humidity, and production machinery noise.
- Ability to work safely around potential hazards including Energy Isolation activities, electricity, pinch points, and moving machine components.
