Electrical Commissioning Lead, Cell

Tesla's Cell Infrastructure team is looking for an experienced Commissioning Electrician energization, testing, and ensuring the safety of the electrical systems that support our battery production facility at Gigafactory Texas and other special projects. This role ensures that installation methods and materials used are compliant with Tesla standards and the National Electrical Code prior to energization. Post-energization this role performs commissioning activities, repairs and troubleshooting. You will work closely with Construction, Facilities Operations, and Manufacturing teams to deliver high-quality electrical services, contributing to the overall efficiency and safety of the facility. This role has a travel expectancy of 25%.

- Perform pre-energization checks on electrical systems and manufacturing equipment
- Perform troubleshooting, and repairs on a variety of electrical equipment to support critical infrastructure
- Install electrical systems such as panels, circuits, motors, distribution, skids, lighting, and various equipment in accordance with NEC and Tesla specifications
- Perform energization, testing, and functional checks of electrical systems, including relay controls, variable frequency drives (VFDs), transformers, and motor circuits using standard electrical testing methods
- Operate mobile equipment, including forklifts, scissor lifts, and boom lifts, to perform electrical tasks at various heights and locations within the facility
- Inspect electrical systems and components regularly to identify and address any hazards, defects, or necessary repairs, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards
- Utilize completions management software to complete checklists and track punchlist items

- Licensed electrician with a minimum of 10 years experience working with low voltage (<1000V) in manufacturing and industrial settings. Five years experience in a supervisory position
- Uncompromising safety mindset and strong knowledge of LOTO-V
- Commissioning and troubleshooting experience in high tech low-voltage systems. Medium voltage experience is preferred but not required
- Ability to work at high elevations and wear a Powered Air Purifying Respirator (PAPR)
- Knowledge of electrical codes, standards, and regulations (NEC, NFPA 70e, OSHA)
- Ability to interpret electrical schematics, process flow diagrams, specifications, and procedures
