## Project Overview:

Bechtel is building a semiconductor manufacturing plant in New Albany, Ohio. We are partnering with the North America Building Trades Unions and suppliers to create several thousand new jobs and work with local education organizations to implement new training programs that will support the future talent pipeline. Bechtel Manufacturing & Technology, Inc. offers engineering, procurement, and construction services for customers in the semiconductor manufacturing, electric vehicle, and data center markets. Headquartered in Reston, Virginia, the M&T global business unit also includes colleagues working in Arizona, Ohio, Texas, India, and additional project locations around the world.

## Job Summary:

The Area ESH Lead helps develop and execute the project Environmental, Safety, and Health (ESH) program across a specific area of a project.  This involves administrative and field tasks per established industry practices, procedures, and regulatory and Bechtel requirements. The position requires practical application of occupational safety and related disciplines for managing environmental, safety and health aspects of a project or facility. The position reports to the ESH Operations Manager (or designee) and coordinates with the Area Construction Manager. #LI-AE2

## Major Responsibilities:

- Lead ESH planning and risk management across construction, commissioning, energization, and owner interfaces.
- Lead and develop ESH staff; assign and oversee work.
- Resolve significant safety and health issues using sound judgment, scientific methods, and industry best practices.
- Represent Area ESH with clients, subcontractors, and leadership, providing clear, risk-based guidance.
- Set and enforce subcontractor ESH expectations, corrective actions, and escalation.
- Advise leadership on ESH risks, trade-offs, bids, estimates, schedules, budgets, and compliance.
- Interpret requirements, assess hazards, research technical and regulatory issues, and prepare plans and reports.
- Implement the Safety and Health Management Plan, procedures, and training.
- Integrate safety and health requirements into planning, design, procurement, construction, and subcontracts.
- Communicate requirements and verify performance through meetings, inspections, audits, and corrective actions.

## Education and Experience Requirements:

- Bachelor of Science degree (or equivalent) in one of the same disciplines with 10 or more years of relevant experience; or an Associate’s degree (or equivalent) in one of the same disciplines with 12 or more years of relevant experience; or 15 or more years of relevant safety or health experience.
- Experience managing ESH teams of 6+ on projects with 2,000+ workers.
- Experience supporting semiconductor, high‑technology, or similarly complex manufacturing construction projects is desirable.
- Proven ability to lead ESH programs through evolving scope, schedule pressure, and organizational change.
- Proficiency in OSHA recordkeeping and standards and data management tools.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and influence at the senior leadership and client level.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for reporting and presenting.
- In-depth knowledge of ESH regulations and construction related industry standards.
- Adaptable and able to work outdoors in a field environment under various weather conditions.
- Ability to work outdoors, support multiple shifts, and travel/relocate as needed.
- Valid driver’s license.

## Required Knowledge and Skills:

- Demonstrated experience in managing ESH teams of 6 or more across all three (ESH) disciplines on construction projects with at least 2000 craft workers.
- Ability to work in multi-lingual, multidisciplinary environments.
- Knowledge and experience with ISO 45001 Management System standards.
- Specialized technical skills in safety or health discipline.
- Broad technical knowledge, science skills, and technical writing abilities.
- Proven track record in managing ESH programs for large-scale projects. Strong ability to lead teams, influence stakeholders, and drive safety culture.
- Professional certification (e.g., ASP, OHST, CSP, CIH) or progress toward certification is highly desirable.
