This opportunity resides with All-Domain Operations (ADO) , a business group within HII’s Mission Technologies division. All-Domain Operations comprises multi-domain operations, platforms and logistics, and intelligence operations.

Who We Are

HII-Mission Technologies is seeking a Future Operations Planner specializing in unmanned maritime systems, experimentation, and innovation. This role supports operational-level planning, integration of emerging technologies, and development of future concepts that enhance fleet readiness and capability. The planner will work closely with technical, operational, and warfare development communities to shape how unmanned systems are employed across distributed maritime operations.

The selected candidate will be responsible for designing, coordinating, and advancing future maritime operations with a focus on unmanned platforms and autonomy-enabled capabilities. The position plays a major role in developing concepts of employment, supporting fleet experimentation, and driving innovative approaches that improve maritime operational effectiveness. The ideal candidate will blend operational planning expertise with a strong understanding of emerging unmanned technologies and a passion for exploring new concepts and capabilities.

This requisition supports hiring at multiple experience levels. Final placement will be determined based on the selected applicant’s qualifications, experience, and skill sets.

What You Will Do

- Develop future operations plans that incorporate unmanned surface, subsurface, and aerial systems into multi-domain maritime operations

- Lead and support experimentation initiatives, including designing objectives, test plans, hypotheses, and data collection strategies for unmanned systems

- Explore and refine innovative operational concepts such as manned–unmanned teaming, autonomy-driven decision support, sensor fusion, and advanced C2 architectures

- Work closely with fleet units, warfare development centers, and program offices to synchronize experimentation, transition lessons learned, and integrate new capabilities into MOC future planning

- Conduct operational analysis to assess emerging technologies, capability gaps, and evolving threats related to unmanned systems

- Produce planning documents, concepts of employment, experimentation reports, briefs, and decision materials for leadership

- Participate in wargaming, modeling, scenario development, and operational design events focused on validating new tactics, techniques, and procedures for unmanned platforms

- Promote innovation within the MOC by identifying opportunities for rapid capability development and recommending new approaches to fleet challenges

- Support MOC battle rhythm events, planning teams, and coordination with Navy, Joint, and Interagency partners

- Deliver clear and actionable briefings and written products for senior leaders and planners

- Contribute to lessons-learned processes, innovation initiatives, and the development of future planning tools

What We Are Looking For

- Level 3: 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience

- Level 4: 9 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 7 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 13 years relevant experience

- Level 5: 15 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 13 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 19 years relevant experience

- Professional experience in military or government planning

- Demonstrated involvement in exercise planning, execution, and post-event analysis

- Understanding of maritime operations, threat environments, and naval intelligence processes

- Strong understanding of unmanned maritime systems, autonomy technologies, and emerging operational concepts

- Experience with operational planning, future operations development, or maritime experimentation

- Ability to evaluate technical information, operational requirements, and experimentation results and translate them into actionable operational plans

- Effective communication skills and experience collaborating across technical, operational, and leadership communities

- Familiarity with Navy and Joint planning processes

- Ability to synthesize multi-source intelligence into actionable operational insights

- Strong interpersonal, briefing, and collaboration skills

- Clearance: Must possess and maintain a TS/SCI clearance

Preferred: Bonus Points For...

- Maritime Operation Planners Course (MOPC) or Maritime Advanced Warfighting School (MAWS) Graduate

- Previous support to real-world maritime operations or exercises

- Experience within a Maritime Operations Center, Fleet Staff, or Joint planning environment

- Background in experimentation, wargaming, or operational innovation

- Experience supporting real-world operations or major maritime exercises

- Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities, particularly in designing decision forcing scenarios

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for briefing, documentation, and stakeholder engagement

- Ability to work collaboratively with cross functional teams, including operators, planners, and training personnel

- Experience supporting multi-domain or joint operations

Physical Requirements

May require working in an office, industrial, shipboard, or laboratory environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances.
