About this role

Key Job Responsibilities Include:

- Provide exceptional customer service by assisting customers with product selection, special orders, bakery product information, and inquiries while contributing to a positive team environment.
- Merchandise bakery products by stocking shelves and displays, ensuring products are properly priced, signed, faced, and presented according to company standards.
- Slice, package, wrap, label, and price bakery products while maintaining product quality, freshness, and food safety standards.
- Receive, inspect, store, and rotate products following first-in, first-out (FIFO) inventory practices.
- Monitor inventory levels, report shrink and spoilage, and assist with inventory counts and departmental administration as required.
- Maintain department cleanliness, including sales floor, work areas, storage areas, and equipment.
- Follow all food safety, WHMIS, occupational health and safety, asset protection, and company policies and procedures.
- Support the Bakery Manager with other duties as assigned to ensure efficient department operations.

Education, Experience, and Other Requirements:

- Grade 12 diploma/GED preferred.
- Previous retail, bakery, grocery, or customer service experience is considered an asset.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of food safety practices is considered an asset.
- WHMIS training is considered an asset.
- Commitment to ongoing learning and development.

Working Conditions:

- Retail bakery environment requiring prolonged standing, walking, bending, lifting, and repetitive movements.
- Regular handling of bakery products and supplies.
- May be required to lift and carry items up to 20 kg.
- Requires adherence to food safety and workplace safety standards.
