Your Role:

EMD Electronics in Branchburg, NJ is seeking a Production Process Engineer.  In this role, you will support safe, compliant, and reliable execution of blending and chemical manufacturing operations for semiconductor patterning materials, including photoresists, anti-reflective/underlayer coatings (BARC/CUL), and ancillary process solutions (EBR, rinses, and thinners).

This role provides the day-to-day technical leadership required to improve process capability, safety, quality, reliability, and productivity through strong chemical process engineering, data-driven root cause analysis, and continuous improvement.

The Production Process Engineer reports to the Production Manager. This position combines hands-on production support with process engineering and analytical problem solving. The role will lead technical activities, coordinate cross-functional execution, and ensure the required technical standards, systems, and capabilities are effectively implemented and sustained. The Engineer partners closely with Quality Control, Quality Assurance, EHS, Facilities Maintenance & Engineering, Supply Chain, Scale-Up, R&D, and global technical teams.

Responsibilities:

Production Execution & Planning:

- Provide daily technical support for formulation, blending, filtration, packaging, and associated manufacturing operations to meet production plans and customer demand.
- Lead technical review of batch calculations, process parameters, campaign sequencing, equipment readiness, and manufacturing constraints before and during execution.
- Monitor plan versus actual performance; identify technical constraints and lead corrective actions that improve schedule attainment, cycle time, and first-time-right execution.

Quality, Data Analysis & Root Cause:

- Provide technical leadership for deviation investigations, customer complaint investigations, nonconformances, and internal quality excursions within the manufacturing scope.
- Apply statistical process control (SPC), process capability analysis, design of experiments, and multivariate analysis such as PCA/PLS to identify process drivers and sources of variation.
- Lead actions to improve Cpk/Ppk, reduce variability, increase first-time-right performance, and reduce scrap, blocked stock, rework, and manufacturing-related customer complaints.
- Maintain complete, traceable, and audit-ready technical documentation in accordance with site quality systems.

Facilities, Assets & Maintenance Coordination:

- Support commissioning, qualification, startup, and performance verification of new or modified production equipment.
- Analyze recurring equipment and process losses and lead technical actions that improve asset reliability and manufacturing continuity.

This is a fully onsite position.

Who You Are:

Minimum Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Production Engineering, or other Engineering field
- 3+ years of experience directly supporting chemical manufacturing operations in a process, production, or manufacturing engineering role
- 3+ years of experience developing or improving manufacturing procedures, process controls, technical standards, and/or operator training content

Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience manufacturing high-purity chemical and/or semiconductor materials manufacturing (photolithography patterning materials – photoresists, BARC/CUL, ancillary solutions)
- Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma certification (Green Belt preferred)
- Strong chemical process engineering capability, including troubleshooting, scale‑up, and process optimization
- Familiarity with manufacturing analytics tools (e.g., JMP, Minitab, Python, or equivalent).
- Experience working with automation and control systems (e.g., Rockwell/ Allen Bradley, FactoryTalk)
- Ability to manage multiple high priorities and respond effectively to production needs in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Must be highly collaborative and able to lead activities through influence across Production, Quality, EHS, Engineering, Supply Chain, and technical functions without direct reports
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical topics clearly to operators, leaders, and cross-functional partners

Pay Range for this position: $79,700 - $119,500

The offer range represents the anticipated low and high end of the base pay compensation for this position. The actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level of experience, education, skills, and other job-related factors.
