Senior Financial Accountant

We’re looking for a Senior Financial Accountant to join our Finance team — someone with strong accounting expertise who enjoys taking ownership and working across a broad range of accounting processes.

Your impact

This is a broad role at the heart of Alight’s finance organisation. You’ll work closely with our Group Chief Accountant, Senior Financial Controller and the wider finance team, taking ownership of key accounting processes across the group.

You’ll work across Alight’s group entities, with responsibility for accounting and financial control, as well as more detailed responsibility for a specific group of entities with greater accounting complexity. You’ll also contribute to group accounting and take ownership of our finance ERP system.

The role will evolve over time. Initially, you’ll work hands-on across different workflows and support the junior financial accountant. As you grow into the role, you’ll take on more responsibility for developing and enhancing processes across areas such as audit, annual reporting, monthly closing and internal accounting guidelines.

You’ll also contribute to driving AI development within the Finance team as we continue exploring how AI can improve our processes and ways of working.

Accounting & Financial Control

You’ll be responsible for ongoing accounting and closing activities across a number of Alight’s group entities.

- Own ongoing accounting together with supporting functions, reconciliations and reporting.
- Be a key player in the monthly and annual closing processes.
- Ensure quality-assured accounting in accordance with applicable laws, regulations and group guidelines.
- Bridge local GAAP and group accounting.
- Take ownership of reporting for group entities across different currencies, including more detailed responsibility for entities with greater accounting complexity.
- Support the junior financial accountant and contribute to team workflows.

Group Accounting & Reporting

You’ll work broadly across the group and contribute to several group-related accounting activities.

- Contribute to group accounting, e.g. reconciliation of intercompany transactions.
- Assist with financial statements, annual reports, tax returns and financial reporting.
- Support transfer pricing processes, e.g. internal loans.
- Work with finance documentation and structuring.
- Together with the Senior Financial Controller, assist in the audit process across all companies.

Process Development & Internal Controls

As you grow into the role, you’ll take increasing responsibility for improving accounting processes and internal controls.

- Develop and enhance the monthly closing process.
- Set up and maintain internal accounting guidelines.
- Contribute to process development and internal controls across accounting processes.

Finance Systems

You’ll have ownership of our finance ERP system and related systems.

- Own NetSuite and related finance systems.
- Contribute to ERP development.
- Contribute to finance-related improvement initiatives connected to systems and processes.
- Contribute to the development and use of AI tools within Finance, including Claude, and help explore how AI can improve our systems, processes and daily ways of working.

We’re looking for you

You’ll have a high level of responsibility in this role and should be comfortable working both with the detail and the broader picture. You’ll work hands-on with accounting while also contributing to processes that impact the wider finance organisation.

The role requires someone who can move comfortably between ongoing accounting, reporting, closing, group accounting and process development, while working independently and collaboratively across the team.

Your experience

- 6–8 years of experience in qualified accounting
- Documented experience in process enhancement and leading finance-related processes.
- Solid knowledge of K3 and Swedish GAAP.
- Experience in group accounting and an understanding of group structures and reporting.
- Solid experience producing annual reports under Swedish GAAP.
- Understanding of finance documentation and structuring.
- Knowledge of transfer pricing processes.
- Solid knowledge of VAT treatment in Swedish entities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel skills.
- Curious about new technology and interested in AI, experience working with Claude or other AI tools is considered a merit.
- Fluency in both Swedish and English, written and spoken.
- Ability to work from our office in central Stockholm on a hybrid remote basis.
