About this role

Are you a finance professional eager to make a real impact on the energy transition?

At Alight, you’ll help drive the financial performance of solar and battery energy storage (BESS) assets while contributing to a cleaner energy system.

Founded in 2013, Alight has been at the forefront of the Nordic solar industry, delivering some of the region’s largest solar installations, pioneering hybrid solar and battery storage projects, and bringing innovative financing solutions to market. Today, we’re a leading independent power producer (IPP) of solar and BESS in the Nordics, with ambitious plans to grow our portfolio and accelerate the transition to a fossil-free energy system.

We’re looking for a Project Financial Controller to join our Financial Asset Management team and help ensure our growing portfolio delivers strong financial performance throughout the asset lifecycle.

You’ll collaborate closely with colleagues across Technical Asset Management, Procurement & Construction, and Investment & Finance. From financial close and construction to long-term operations, you’ll have the opportunity to take ownership, improve processes, and influence how we manage our assets as the business grows.

Your impact

As Project Financial Controller, you’ll take financial ownership of your assigned portfolio of solar PV and BESS assets. You’ll ensure sound financial control, reliable reporting, and compliance with contractual obligations and financing agreements, helping each asset perform at its best.

This is a hands-on role combining financial management, analytical problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration. Your responsibilities will include:

- Drive financial performance: Monitor asset performance against budgets and forecasts, analysing profit and loss, operating expenditure, contractual obligations, and claims.
- Support financial reporting and control: Oversee monthly financial closings, invoicing, and payment processes, and prepare monthly and quarterly reports with clear variance analysis and actionable insights.
- Manage risks and revenue requirements: Ensure compliance with the contractual and regulatory conditions underpinning each asset’s revenue streams and financing arrangements.
- Support investor returns: Coordinate investor distributions and help optimize returns within the framework of financing agreements and compliance requirements.
- Analyse operational performance: Investigate production performance, liquidated damages, insurance claims, and operating expenditure to identify financial risks and opportunities for improvement.
- Manage customer and stakeholder relationships: Ensure clear, timely financial communication with customers and internal stakeholders.
- Support annual reporting and audits: Contribute to the preparation of annual accounts and coordinate information required for audit processes.
- Support portfolio growth: Help onboard new assets by defining service provisions, establishing appropriate pricing, and ensuring robust financial models and controls are in place.
- Keep stakeholders informed: Communicate asset performance to senior management, investors, and the Board through structured reports and ad hoc analyses.
- Improve how we work: Identify opportunities to strengthen financial processes, reporting, and automation as Alight’s portfolio expands.

We’re looking for you

You’re an analytical and commercially minded finance professional who enjoys taking ownership and turning financial data into meaningful insights. You thrive in a dynamic environment where financial, contractual, and operational considerations intersect, and you enjoy the variety that comes with managing a growing portfolio. You’re comfortable balancing planned activities with ad hoc requests, adapting to changing priorities, and responding flexibly when new needs arise.

You’re proactive, structured, and curious. You challenge existing ways of working, look for smarter ways to solve problems, and enjoy collaborating across teams to drive performance and create value. You combine a structured approach with the flexibility to think on your feet, navigate unexpected challenges, and deliver valuable insights even when priorities shift.

What you bring

- Around 3–5 years of experience in project controlling, investment finance, structured finance, corporate finance, or a related field.
- Experience in management accounting, financial performance analysis, and project or asset financial reporting.
