On behalf of UKAEA (UK Atomic Energy Authority) we are looking for an Electrical Commissioning Engineer (INSIDE IR35) for a 10 month contract based in Abingdon.
UKAEA run the UK’s national fusion energy research programme, sponsored by the Government’s Department for Energy Security & Net Zero. They are on a mission to deliver safe, sustainable, low-carbon energy from fusion, achieving maximum scientific and economic benefit along the way.
As an Electrical Commissioning Engineer , your main responsibilities will be to:
- Lead the Testing and commissioning of RACE electrical systems, ensuring compliance with both site requirements and legislated safety standards.
- Be responsible for the team completing the installation of hardware and cabling for remote handling applications, including control panels, cubicles, and harnesses, supporting the Electrical Implementation Section Leader across the RACE portfolio.
- Prepare and assess technical documentation such as testing and commissioning procedures, safety assessments and method statements, as required with responsibility for the final sign off.
- Provide quality assurance during and upon completion of equipment.
- Define and set standards and best working practices.
- Take responsibility for testing and commissioning of equipment, ensuring suitable and sufficient work control documentation is provided and adhered to.
Essential:
- Formal Electrical/Electronic/Engineering qualification (City and Guilds, ONC, HNC, BSc, BEng).
- Previous experience in a practical role within a relevant field delivering complex electrical systems.
- Extensive experience with commissioning electrical systems.
- Experience of understanding electrical schematics and general assembly drawings.
- Excellent demonstratable workshop skills.
- Demonstratable experience with building, layout and wiring and modifying electrical panels, harnesses and large electrical cabinets/cubicles.
